I have an older 10/22. Only mods are hogue stock and tech sights. Seriously, if you have a 10/22 get tech sights. They are awesome. Everything stock and it cloverleafs 5 shots of bulk HV ammo at 25. And it's deadly on steel out to 100 without sight adjustment.

My (son's) mp15-22 however is sooooooooo much fun to shoot. We were out this week at the range and they have these steel plates set in rows at 25, 35, and 50. I did some rapid acquisition and shooting on them up and down the rows. Too much fun.

The 10/22 is more accurate between the two. But the mp15-22's accuracy pretty good.

It's funny because my favorite 22 handgun is the ruger bearcat. Which is like the opposite approach.

Either one will be fun. Hell get both. And don't mod the hell out of the 10/22. It's damn near perfect as is.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

What role is this going to fill?

It looks like plinking to me? If that's the case, go with the lever action. You'll have more fun.

2nd choice being the 10/22, because you can convert over to a target rifle and go to town with it.

If you eventually just want to scope a rifle and shoot it, may I suggest a Marlin 795?

The Henry is a great choice ! But then you can't beat a 10/22. They last a long time and are simple to work on and there are many east to get parts. I like 10 /22s. If you want an AR style 22 buy a dedicated 22lr upper. The 22 mag is impressive but too costly and not needed for plinking.

Go with the Henry. It will eat 22lr and 22 short. There was plenty of 22 short when lying around when there was no 22lr to be found anywhere.

My vote is with the 10/22. I have the takedown and I
              really like it.

Marlin 795 or older Marlin 39a. From there decide if you want the semi or lever. Both accurate. Love shooting both.

I'd get a CZ boltgun, or a 10/22. Or maybe a lever action. Stay away from the tacticool crap, it's exactly that.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

get a cz 455 lux if you like iron sights or a 455 american if you plan on only using a scope. Their old tangent sights are amazing and their guns are some of the best shooting .22's out of the box. I have a 455 american in 22lr along with a 22wmr barrel and love it

I concur but given your last post, get the Henry first.

Once I told my wife I'm contemplating a lever action her eyes lit up lol so thats in the lead at the moment.
WINNAH WINNAH WINNAH CHICKEN DINNAH!!!! That your wife's eyes lit up at the thought of a lever-action is a HUGE plus I know...my wife did the same thing and added a huge smile when I casually asked her opinion about the Henry H001. So, guess what I did for HER ten days ago?. And she has other .22LR options from the safe, but I have a feeling she'll enjoy the cr@p outta this smooth actioned easy loading easy shooting rifle...and I will, too Picking up tomorrow and she has no idea

I'd rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
