Need help deciding on a new .22LR

I've got a few in mind.

    [1] Ruger 10/22

I like this because its very accepting to upgrades. That and its cheap.

    [2] HKMP5 .22LR

Just looks fun really. Thats about it

    [3] Lever Action .22LR

My wife really like the cowboy lever action style rifles and wants one a lot. Plus, I really like the hex barrel in this picture.

In the end I know its me who will make the choice, but stuff like this is so hard to decide on!

I like my 10-22 takedown. Most of the upgrades for the regular 10-22 will work. I am sure people will start making stocks and other barrels for the TD. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with whatever you get.

If you don't have a .22LR rifle then you can't go wrong with the 10/22. For Lever Action I'd get a Henry Golden Boy.

What about that new Magnum Research? I like the .22 WMR version.

Consider that it won't be cheap after you upgrade it.

            Go with a M&P 15-22

It's reliable, fun to shoot, and good looking. It can also fill several roles...
I already have an AR platform. I don't plan on getting another unless its .308, 300 blk or 5.45.

Once I told my wife I'm contemplating a lever action her eyes lit up lol so thats in the lead at the moment.

S&W 15-22 or the rugar 10/22. everyone needs to have a rugar 10/22 just because.

We have a Marlin 39A that's a lot of fun. We also have a couple 10/22's, one for me and one for my wife.

This decision shouldn't be about which one, but about what order to acquire them in.

Always, always keep the wife happy. Hard lesson many of us don't learn till it's too late. Get the lever action first so she'll accompany you and share shooting with you. If she gets really taken by shooting you'll get the green light for many more firearms in the future. And even if her enthusiasm wanes the lever actions are fun to shoot; I have a Winchester 9422 Trapper that lets me explore my inner cowboy. Yippee ki-yay!

This is clearly the wisest answer.

Barring that, what do you want it to do? 10/22s can be made very accurate and are fun to customize (but can get $$$). AR pattern would be inexpensive training for an existing AR, but likely not a bench/target gun. Lever action allows you to channel your inner cowboy, etc...

I love shooting lever actions. Tons of fun. If you want to mod it up go 10/22. If you don't want to mess with it go with the Henry.

How about a Bolt Action .22lr?

I have several .22s. My fav is the Henry. It shoots anything from Colibri to Aguila super-max. Holds more ammo, never fails to do anything, looks good, feels good. Was accurate out of the box.
