New 10/22

I picked this up a few weeks ago, got a good deal on it. It's called the 10/22 "Tactical" and has a 16" barrel. I thought it looked cool so I grabbed it, they even threw in the Ruger 10/22 soft case. I put a little cheap BSA TW4X30 scope on it, it's fixed 4x and it works pretty good for what it is. I didn't want a big scope on this rifle because I wanted to take advantage of it's compact size and light weight and it's just for plinking and squirrels. Also, this rifle does not come with any iron sights so I just needed something cheap and effective. Anywho, here it is...

They make this model in the "take down" version, but it has not hit the market yet (that I can tell). Turners sells a lot of Ruger firearms and I asked if I could put a deposit down. They said they were not expecting any soon. I love the look of the fire suppressor - it adds a nice touch.

Yea, that's what caught my eye, I thought it looked pretty tough for a .22

Yeah. One 10/30 round and 10/20 round ..I paint them flat black to match the rifle ... The original mags I glue them back to back ... Works good! now I need a better scope then 4x ...

40 to 50 yards no problem...but I think I need a 9x for a 100 yards ... Maybe a Nikon ??? What I have now is a bushnell

Check out Redfield, REVENGE 3-9x I have one on my .17HMR, great little scope for the money...Redfield is owned by Leupold

I have pretty good vision, so 4x at 100 yds is plenty for me.

Thanks for the advise! I'll check them out... I try 100 yards before but I can't see my target ... I'm getting old hahaha... Congrats on your good looking 10/22!

I really like the Nikon 3x9-40 with BDC 150 reticle. Zero'd at 50 yards, then 75 and 100 yards are easy-breezy with the calibrated BDC marks for 22lr (also 125 and 150 marks, I just haven't done those). At least in my experience, 75 and 100 yards are spot on the BDC marks when using CCI mini-mag.

Leupold makes a compact 2-7X "rimfire" scope thats pretty neat lookin' and it's a Leupold---a tad more than the $150 you mentioned---last time I checked online, I saw them for just under $200...

For reference, I put a $50 dollar Centerpointe 3x9 illuminated reticle on my 10/22 and it's held zero for about 10k rounds or so. During the day, the glass isn't much different than my Nikons or Meullers. For $150 I'd look into a Nikon though.
