I'll get a few that don't fire out of a 500 round box. If they don't shoot in one of the autos, I'll try them in the Ruger Single Six. Usually only one or two won't.

For the ones that didn't fire, pull the bullet and see if there is any powder.
If powder is present, it's probably not enough primer compound.

Of course this is if the firearm is GTG.

IMO, it's not having enough primer compound on the rim. The "youtube" show of watching how they make rimfire ammo, it's easy to see that when it comes to the primer mixture being placed into the shell, it can be pushed to the sides of the casing and not always to the bottom of the rim.

It's all about QC and how their machines do the job.

I have fired maybe 30,000+ rounds of Eley Match ammo and "NEVER" had a problem. But of course the ELEY ammo I shoot is like $15.00 a box of fifty.

NO. Not normal at all. Only duds I have ever had were 2 out of a box of M-22. Never had one since. If one did not discharge, I would reload it and try again. Usually goes off the second time. Sounds like you might have a gun issue rather than ammo issue.

Depends. I've had entire boxes with no problems. This last box, I tried was 1 of 4. constant F2F.

I have fired over 2000 Federal Champion 325 value pack rounds without a single round failed. Had a few fail to ejects, and a double feed, but just reloaded the rounds later and they fired

Try to fire then again by rotating the firing pin mark 180%. Low cost ammo is the problem and that is 99% of what I plink with.

Shooting Federal 22lr blue box and had a couple dozen duds. Is this normal or a bad batch.

If Remington, yes, especially their "Thunderbolt" stuff. I won't even buy that stuff anymore.

But Federal is usually rather dud-free.

It was a Ruger SR22. I have two of them and had problems with both of them. For the most part it's fine. Some of them fired but did not eject and that's a little frustrating trying to get the casing out. Sometimes they can be a little stubborn!

Don't take this the wrong way but I want you to try something, hold the gun firmly next time you shoot and see if the issue persists. I've had many shooters over the years that "limp wrist" a semi-auto have the same problems. When you do not hold the gun firmly some of the recoil is lost by the movement of the gun and the result is there is not sufficient recoil to fully cycle the slide. That will cause stove pipe jams or fail to eject. Shooting a smaller size gun like the SR22 requires more shooter concentration but pays off when you do.

A couple of dozen is too many, try different ammo, if the same thing happens, then it's time to look at your gun.

clean your chamber and the rim of it really well

sometimes, 'crud' builds and causes the firing sequence to be 'cushioned' by the crud resulting in not enough to crush the rim adequately.
