    Marlin 795 at Big Five

Bought a 795 at Big 5 in late December of last year for $139.00. Went in today and it is $199.00. Manager told me he cannot keep them in stock. Wow........even rimfire is outta control.

I bought mine in late 09 for $100 after rebate. The price of everything has just gone up.

I tried to get one from Bass Pro Shop today and they were out of stock. The ammo shelves were barren as well.

Yeah, I perused a Big5 ad and saw "Marlin 795 on sale $189" What!

            I think I paid $139-159 (can't remember), minus $25 rebate a year ago.

I was going to pick up another one to mount my tech sights on (my current one has a scope). But .. I dunno. On the other hand, prices may never come down again.

I just bought one at Big 5 yesterday. It's out of jail on the 28th. The only issue now is finding ammo.

Ammo is nonexistent. Big Five gets it on Thursday AM. But I work that day and miss out all the time. I would have the kid pick it up, but he is in class that day. I am screwed. All I can hope for is the ammo marketplace here.

I thought I was overpaying when I picked mine up for $ 181.95, because I had seen it advertised at Dicks for around $ 150 near San Diego. It wasn't worth the ride and going back and forth. I was in Temecula at the time and I got it at the Shootist. Just how professional and informative they were throughout the transaction made it worth it !!

Last Friday I was at Sportsman's Warehouse in Roseville, and they had a few 795's left, price was $149.

They also had Remington 597, for $179, I bought one. The bull barrel version was there too for $205.

No 22 ammo, 357 mag, 38 special, or 12 ga target loads.

do the math and come up with the best 'buy quality, cry once' purchase you can make. the largest part of the cost will be the 'usage fees' that are paid down the road.
