I had the same issue. The cheek weld is not conducive to using a scope.

the leather cheek pad helps but it is still about 1/4" - 3/8" high

How do you like the hi-viz front? Im thinking that Im going to do the Hi-viz front and either Skinner or Williams rear sight.

I much prefer an old school brass bead front with a marbles flat top rear.

wouldnt mind the brass bead front but where to buy? Ive searched and the closest thing I can find is the skinner brass front blade.

Use a small shotgun brass bead, and just drill and tap a hole for it in the stock front blade. A Google search will find many sources. Midway or Brownells has them for sure.

A friend of mine has a henry rifle in 30-30, I don't have much trouble hitting clay targets at just over 100 yards with the iron sights that came on it

the round barrel 30-30 have a nice ghost ring sight but unfortunately that is not what the h1 have.

I have Skinner rear sight mounted in the barrel's dovetail and this KNS Sight 3/8ʺ Dovetail Hooded .425ʺ High Duplex Reticle Matte for the front of my Big Boy in 44mag, great combo!
Get ready for a bit of work to get them into the dovetails though, the Skinner will need filing and the KNS is undersized
Never follow the advice of Calguns Addicts,
They clearly don't know what they are talking about.

For my H001 I'm going to use the Nikon Rimfire 3x9x40. My eyes are too shot to hit 100 - 200 yard shots at tiny squirrels unless I scope it.

I do have the Skinner barrel mounted on my 30/30. It works well for my eyes out to about 100 yards. It's a bush rifle.
