Well, I hit the plastic bottle, etc. pretty quickly at 3x. Then I went to the target, and started to have problems. Then I over-corrected, lost patience, lost track of where I was, tried to set to a mechanical zero, was successful somewhat with that...eventually I worked up to 50 yards and was hitting bullseyes...needs some more fine tuning...the best way to zero I agree is with a solid stationary firearm so you can just move the cross-hairs over to the hole. I couldn't do that with my rig and wasted many rounds but had fun shooting anyway!

    Thanks!

There is a way to bore sight Semi auto rifles, My first wife used to get little mirrors from a dental lab that would slide into the ejection port. But don't be afraid to start as close as you need to get on paper. After that just keep backing it out there till you are happy with the distance. My hunting and plinking 22s I zero at 35 yds. That puts me min of ground squirrel from 10 to 50 yds. [ no hold over or under ] and just a little hold over at 75yds. DR

The mirror idea works. However, there is no reason to start close if you can see your hits on a been. In fact, I use the one shot zero method to zero optics at 1000 yards without bore sighting first. It really only takes a decent eye and one round to get a zero in the 10 ring.
