I have had a 795 for about 2 years and love it. It is a great little rifle and is an incredible value. Extremely accurate too. I can get 2-3 MOA at 25yds with iron sights.

Field stipping is very easy, but as Chaos pointed out, be careful when it comes to pulling the bolt back because it is easy to bend the recoil spring. I did that once and had to get a new spring because I put a good kink in it. I don't have that problem anymore because I guess I have mastered my technique. Just be conscious of what you're doing and pull the bolt back and up. It helps me to put some cloth or something to pad the front of the bolt so that my fingers have more leverage on the front of the bolt.

My 795 came with one 10-round mag. I have since bought 5 or 6 more and they were all nickel.

One thing about the mags is that they all don't easily drop out when you eject them. Some mags fall right out while others have to be pulled out. There must be small differences between even identically-manufactured mags. Polishing the edges helps some.

I would strongly recommend getting some Tech Sights for the 795, http://www.tech-sights.com/marlin.htm, because they are awesome sights. The stock 795 sights are just so so. Adding Tech Sights gives you some accurate peep sights. They are very much worth the small investment.

Lastly, Boyds makes a very nice stock for the 795. I got one about a year ago and it made me love the 795 that much more.

Good luck with the mags. They will turn up again once the panic subsides.

Wow, CTD has a good price on those. I picked up two exta 10 rounders at the local Big5 for like $20 a piece! Bah!

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.
