Agree about Brasso.
You are gonna love it!
I brought my late father's 1920s vintage Model 39 to the range today and let a couple of well seasoned old timer marksmen (in their late 70s) fire it. They were hitting bottle caps at 50 yards with both the original Marbles tang peep sight, and even the dovetail sight (with the peep folded down).
They both described the action as "Like butter, just pure, smooth butter."
So take care of yours, enjoy it; they last more than a lifetime!sigpic

I search for Marlin 39a and I found this thread. A goodfriend of mine gave me his 1957 or 8 39a. He and his brother shared it when they were kids. Significant amount of surface rust, especially on the scope. Bore looked pretty decent after I brushed and swabbed it several times. Can't wait to shoot it. It's good to have generous friends.NRA Life MemberComment
