    Waiting game now- Marlin 795

    Hey Calguns!

Now waiting to pick up my Marlin 795 .22 lr. Got it at Big 5! But dam- what I could have gotten for $150- 6 months ago, its now at $199. Oh well- what ya gonna do....but im excited. My first .22 lr. Figure cheaper to shoot that versus using up my .223/AR. Will use that from time to time but gonna plink with the .22

Any suggestions? Not gonna make it "tacticool" but I do want to make it look like a sniper rifle. Thinking of a scope and bipod? maybe even painting it? (is that hard to do- research on youtube looks real easy)

Nice!!!!! And thanks for the link. I actually am not gonna change out the stock- will keep it "stock" lol.

But with the addition of the bipod and scope I cant wait. Again, thanks and your rifle looks great!

              Thanks, doc66 and Quickdraw Mcgraw!

Yea they would sell those stocks really well if they sold them again. I get PM's about it all the time.

I am still thinking about painting it OD Green with Krylon Ultra-Flat...

doc66 be aware that the newer 795 stocks are coming with molded on plastic sling studs that are slightly recessed. This makes the stud not compatable with a lot of bipods. Just something to keep in mind.

If I was going to stick with the stock stock I would have textured the grip areas and probably painted it OD.

The cowboy style checkering outlines just kinda kill it for me...
I might have also put some weight in the buttstock and filled it with expanding foam.
And then maybe epoxy an arrow shaft into the bottom of the barrel channel to stiffen it and to combat flex.

My suggestion is to get a few extra magazines and this baby uplula magazine loader:

It works great and makes shooting my Marlin 795 a lot more fun.

2 bills? Man I remember last year when I could of gotten one for a buck thirty out the door, oh well. I did get a model 60 and a 10/22 though. The 10/22 was just to feed my tactical needs. Still haven't taken out the 60, I will soon enough.

Wow! Such great advice! And your expertise really helps. I pick up on Friday and first thing I will check are the sling studs. So if so I will be reaching out to ask for suggestions on the bipod. Yes I'm gonna get a cheaply scope then spray paint the whole thing--- thinking OD or desert tan.
