    Just got back from BIG5...

So I just got back from BIG5 and I was surprised to note no .22LR rifles on display and then I found this sign...

I was surprised about the prices (well maybe not). I'm just glad I got one way back. Now the ammo is a different story.

Did anyone pay similar prices for their rifle(s)?

Just came back from the one in Tustin. The only sign I saw was a recall for the Chiappa 22 cal. M1 carbine. They had no 223 or 308, or 22. Crazy prices on those tacticools. Can you imagine paying that much for something that goes "pew, pew, pew?"

I just looked at the new Big 5 weekly ad, and though I browsed it quite quickly, I don't recall seeing any firearms in there.

I was at a Big 5 in San Digeo North County and manager hinted to me that they were getting a shipment in in two days and that if I wanted anything I should line up before the store opened at 10:00. He also said they would limit ammo purchases to 5 boxes of any one type and brand. I figures why not? I got to the store the morning of the delivery about 9:45 and there were already about 10 people in line waiting. I walked out with the last 5 boxes of .223 and one 100 box of 22lr hollow points. It was worth the 15 minutes wait to get in and 5 minute wait at the counter. The line at the counter went pretty quick. People there knew exactly what they wanted.

Big5 pushes itself as the family sporting goods store: tents, sleeping bags, baseball bats, shoes, etc. If they were serious about EBRs they would make much more $$ but I'm sure it would reduce sales on the rest of their goods. Imagine a line like we see @ Turners!

They should get into something innocent looking like the Saiga. Offer it for sale every month @ $300, they would sell truckloads. I'd get one for every member of the family.

In Capitola, the flyer is missing it's usual array of arms. The city council there and anti-gun activists have their eyeballs on them right now. Link

the sig 522 on sale and that 10% off coupon could go as low as 420 if you time it right. prices right now are higher than usual.

The MP5 is 70 dollars more than they wanted in Early December. Also all shops including mine, are removing a lot of weapons from display due to the shortage of weapons and ammo and the possibility of extremists/robbers trying to steal what they can. Its all precautions though. Also another reason is most weapons that my shop has for display, we dont have any in stock as well as the distributors are completely out. We dont want to display something and not be able to get it for you guys...

So now what's the reason to visit Big 5 if they are not displaying the only few things they sell worth buying on sale?

Has anybody thought why the tactical rifles are not in public view? Ashamed of what they are selling! Dealers that are not "all in" are part of the problem not a solution. I choose to shop at dealers that promote the cause, not run from it.
