What ar style 22

I'll vouch for the Tactical Solutions upper. I initially swapped it onto a 5.56 lower but realized there was no reason at all not to build a lower up just for .22 - with no bullet button. Its as accurate as I could want (used at Appleseed to shoot a 221) and with the right ammo its also quite reliable.

I went with a dedicated 22lr upper on a TM lower just cause I hated the lower. Got another lower for my 223 use.

Huge beneifits are (1) I got tired of swapping uppers all the time and (2) now my buddies can shoot along side with me on my little brother ar. I built both way before the panic so I could care less what lowers are going for - but will look for a spare later when the dust settles...

22ar upper is a CMMG with BHOA and EVO 10rd shorty mags. Lower is multi cal TM (that I hate) with magpul stuff. (yes I hate the lower, no it's not for sale). Scope is Nikon PS rimfire with troy rear sight+FSP).

If you don't mind proprietary mags for the M&P go for it. Personally, I HATE proprietary stuff.

This, mags are a big deal for me. I currently have a SIG522 in jail, While the SIG522 has lots of proprietary parts, the mags are standard AR .22LR mags which are available even in these times.

I own these three, and would recomend them in this order -

Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 (It is an actual AR, with many, many options)

Ruger SR-22 (It's a tank and not an actual AR platform, but it is Rugers version and it's built on the 10/22 action...many options when it comes to precesion aftermarket parts)

Colt (Umarex - Walther) M4 Ops (So far this thing has been solid, shoots good, zero issues just wish there were some more magazine options)

I have a dedicated CMMG .22 upper on my AR - works well.
My only gripe is I swear the front sight is canted slightly.
Not a big deal since I put a scope on it anyway.
Oh, and I cannot get the BHOA to work reliably.

Just so theres no disinformation spread around. The SW MP 22 IS NOT a actual AR. The CMMG and some other dedicated uppers are built using standard alunimnum AR recievers. The SW is made on a plastic upper and lower reciever of SWs own design. You cannot use the lower or upper on anything but a SW. You can use some AR15 parts with it but it is not built using "real" AR15 recievers,just a copy of them. It is a proprietary plastic copy at best of an AR15.. No real AR15 manufactureres use plastic Uppers and or Lowers.. More power to those that love em. Just not for me.

I have an AR-15 and 15-22. I would rather have a complete dedicated 22 so thats why I went with the 15-22. It handles like one and strips down like one. The only thing it that is does not have is a dust cover and forward assist, other then that everything else functions like an AR and it just a blast to shoot. The whole trigger group in the 15-22 is the same as an AR which is nice.

I think I have about 4-5k rounds through mine and it eats anything I feed it. Love it.

+1 for what MattO said. It's nice to have a dedicated .22 instead of switching uppers with a .223.

I would also recommend the 15-22. It's the only .22 I know of that mimics a real AR (in terms of functionality/layout).

i love my umarex.
but ill hurt someone if 22s stay jacked...

i hunted for a newer year production one. i heard they had ejection issues.
havent experienced any of those at all. ive shot about 2000rounds thru it and the only thing unpleasent about the, whole new dedicated 22, was that it doesnt like the thunderbolts(doesnt blow bolt back enough sometimes, and a couple bad primers).
