    10/22 Takedown Scope

Just put a Ruger 10/22 TD in "jail" and started thinking about a scope; need recommendations.
I'm concerned because I don't want one which will hang over the front of the back section when I put it away; is a 3 x 9 adequate and would like to keep it under $100. Have had good luck with Pentax products in the past and seen some good reviews on the BSA sweet 22, but will they fit and is there something better/less expensive? From what I see, everything in this price range is made in China, so I quess that's not an issue.

What do you recommend and what should I look out for? Thanks

I too am curious since I just jailed myself a Ruger 10/22 takedown last Sunday. I went ahead and gambled by throwing down the.money for a sweet 22 scope based on reviews. I should receive everything my this Thursday so hopefully I can upload some pictures then.

BSA is crap, either save for r a Nikon or the Leupold rimfire that is shorter

I have a Weaver V-3 1X3X20 scope on my TD.

It's a great scope. I like the 1x setting and at 3x 25-50 yards is fine. Quick acquisition, and really good glass makes this a fun scope. And it fits in the TD bag perfectly.

A Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9x40mm will not fit in the bag (mounted) unless it is positioned back a bit more than what I think would be "normal", but it is a great scope for the price.
I have mine on QD rings and keep it in the extra sleeve in the bag, if I want to assemble and shoot quit I just use the stock iron sites.

Well after reading the sticky about scopes (should have done that first) and using all the advise, I went with the Leupold 2 x 7 x 28. Blew my budget, but the optics seemed outstanding and it should fit in the bag.
PS; It was also nice to buy something "Made in USA".

I just got leupold medium quick release weaver 1 inch rings and a nikon p-223 2x7x32 for my takedown. Scope is still mounted when i break it down and it barely fits in the bag.

Not exactly the scope for the question you were asking (a shorter scope) but for a budget buyer this one is pretty nice, I use it on my mostly stock 10/22...

I got the exact same scope as well - works pretty well for the money...

Anyone recommend good tech sights that I can easily switch back and forth with?

Are you talking about something like these? Haven't tried them myself but all the reviews i've read have been really positive:

Tech Sight's TSR200 Adjustable Aperture Sight for the Ruger 10/22 Rifle

Check this video on Youtube at 19:40 into he talks about tech sights on a Marlin 795 and what he likes about them:

Not sure that this would "easy" to change out with your scope but then again, if you have to take the scope off then nothing is easy per se.

                            mine

UTG/ Leapers bug buster compact scope is nice and fits in bag w/o removing.

                            lots of choices out there.

I think that scope looks appropriate. Another scope that might be a nice size is the new Nikon P-223 3x32. It's only 8" long.
