AW Ban "precautionary" purchase Ruger 10/22

You know, if you see something in stock and you can afford it, buy it. Even if the gun control efforts lose steam it's going to take quite a while for shortages to resolve themselves.

And yeah, if you were to make a list of things they could successfully ban from easiest to hardest "all semi autos" are fairly early on the list. Hopefully we'll never get there but I'd prioritize a rimfire semi auto over, say, bolt actions or pump shotguns even though that makes no sense, because it's not about making sense.

I think that would kind of defeat the purpose of his purchase if you actually read his reason for buying it in the OP. The 10/22 is a featureless rifle, in case the ban does pass, in which case his 15-22 would be covered by the ban because it has 'evil features', since the retards in D.C. want to include rimfires this time.

I actually did the opposite of the OP, I already have a 10/22 so I went out and bought a 15-22, been sitting at the gun store for the past few days, but I get off work too late to pick it up on my way home. 10AM tomorrow morning...can't wait.

And I agree with Mitch, everyone should own at least one 10/22.

A 10-22 would be considered under the ban because it is a semi-auto that can accept a magazine of over 10 rounds. The wordage in Fineswine's proposal pretty much eliminates all semi auto weapons. Good luck getting that one through Diane

It's all about compromise... she tries to ban everything fun, and knows it won't pass, so chip. Then it'll be someone else next time some crazy does something, chip (providing that the Litch actually keels over someday). They will just chip away until we have to show a license to buy a pellet gun. These idiots want us all unionized dependent on .gov like most Europeans.

The ONLY reason for any registration is a future ban, as registration serves no other purpose...

Make .308 and .223 etc. 'rimfire' rounds, as opposed to 'centerfire' and shoot said rimfire rounds out of evil looking guns, that are built to fire those size rimfire rounds?

I got a 10//22 monsth ago cause I heard that was the best thing to learn on (after I was shooting my .223 like crap) I helps. Everyone needs a 10/22 or similar rimfire. Now I'm slightly shooting my AR better but I still need practice, practice, practice.. (.223/5.56 ammo cost on the other hand I don't wanna talk about).

Depends on the text of the law, which we have not yet seen.

But there's a reason the technology progressed from rimfire to centerfire. Rimfire is not as reliable as centerfire, and cannot handle case pressures found in modern centerfire cartridges. So if someone was to tool up to produce rimfire .308 (to be fired by special purpose rimfire bolts), you'd have an expensive underpowered rifle on your hands.
