AW Ban "precautionary" purchase Ruger 10/22

I did something outside my norm today...I bought a compact Ruger 10/22 as a precaution in case they pass a ban that affects my M&P 15-22.

I like the short 16" barrel and fiber optic sights. The stock is too short for me but I'm hoping to find some one willing to trade this compact wood stock for their factory black plastic stock.

AW ban precationary purchase thoughts? Anyone else do something similar?

    No.

The best reason to buy a Ruger 10/22 is because everyone should have at least one, preferably several.

I wouldn't worry about them banning the AR configured rimfire. But, I agree...everyone should own a Ruger 10/22!

And on the bright side....you just got a 10/22
It will probably be quite a while before the antis focus on any type of rimfire rifle. At least lets hope so. Who really knows. At any rate, at least you had the funds to make a purchase.

If a the ban was to pass, it would affect all semi autos(from what i heard). Congrats anyway.

I think you mean Semi Auto Rifles only ? as if it was all Semi Autos it would also include semi auto handguns.

I think that would kind of defeat the purpose of his purchase if you actually read his reason for buying it in the OP. The 10/22 is a featureless rifle, in case the ban does pass, in which case his 15-22 would be covered by the ban because it has 'evil features', since the retards in D.C. want to include rimfires this time.

I actually did the opposite of the OP, I already have a 10/22 so I went out and bought a 15-22, been sitting at the gun store for the past few days, but I get off work too late to pick it up on my way home. 10AM tomorrow morning...can't wait.

And I agree with Mitch, everyone should own at least one 10/22.

"Moms Demand Action" sounds less like a gun control group and more like the title of a porn flick from the mid-90s.

They are already talking about "Assault Handguns" and "Military-Styled Handguns". . . . . .

So yeah, they already have the vocabulary in place and they'll be using stats about crimes being commited with an Assault/Military-Styled Handgun.

It's all semi-auto firearms (handguns, rifles, shotguns, others).

They made reference to some semi-autos specifically being excluded but I haven't seen the list. I suspect hunting style semi's such as the remington woodsmaster, browning BAR, 10/22 and similar MIGHT be on the safe list.

You know, if you see something in stock and you can afford it, buy it. Even if the gun control efforts lose steam it's going to take quite a while for shortages to resolve themselves.

And yeah, if you were to make a list of things they could successfully ban from easiest to hardest "all semi autos" are fairly early on the list. Hopefully we'll never get there but I'd prioritize a rimfire semi auto over, say, bolt actions or pump shotguns even though that makes no sense, because it's not about making sense.
