Ruger 10/22 takedown thoughts/issues?

FYI, Ruger now has a new model take-down. Threaded barrel, alloy. Not sure if it will make it to Cali?

According to the AW Flowchart - a flashhider is GTG on rimfire so I guess the answer is yes.

Sure it will be available in Calif.
The tactical version of the carbine is available in Calif.

BTW. for those with a std TD in holding period, you can wait it out 30 days before picking it up and hope the new version is available.
The serial number is not set on paper until you pick it up, and even if it was recorded, you can change it w/o a new DROS etc., before you take possession and the paperwork goes off.

Been looking everywhere for a takedown the last few weeks. Hit the lottery last night and bought one for $389. Probably one of the last available in all of Southern California for that price.

I just jailed mine yesterday. After looking at one in person, just had to have it. I paid $389 as well... but the store was asking $429.

Why so much interest in a takedown rifle anyway?
Seems like a solution to a problem that isn't there. Especially for almost twice as much

I'll stick with the standard 10/22, if I want it shorter/packable, I'd get a folding stock for it.

It's awesome. I wanted one (and got one) because I wanted a portable rimfire rifle to lug around when I goto the range along with my other gear that tends to run on the heavy side. In addition, it's also my first 10/22 and incredibly convenient to always take with me to the range (due to its size and portability).

My takedown was the first 10/22 I bought and (at that time) was the first .22lr rifle I bought. I wanted something compact to carry from the car to the range.

I can also break it down and put in into my double AR case with the AR's since it doesn't take up too much room in the case. That way I got three guns in one double AR case if I do bring all my stuff.

If someone were to own just one 10/22, the TD model could offer someone the best of both worlds. Aftermarket trigger components and magazines would work with the 10/22 TD model. As for cost, I purchased both of my 10/22 TD rifles for $289 each + tax and DROS. If you were to purchase a stainless 10/22 carbine, case and aftermarket folding stock then you would be in about the same price range.

The added benefits of owning a 10/22 TD model is that you get a nice case, it can be discreetly carried in a backpack, you can clean it from the chamber when apart and you can store it in places where where a standard 10/22 can't fit.

As for me, I purchased my 10/22 TD rifles because I like takedown guns and a variety of 10/22's. The 10/22 TD is a solid choice.



The 10/22 with folding stock is longer than the TD model when folded and does not fit into the TD case.

I also bought the Take Down for the convenience and discreet portability.
It was my first .22LR rifle.
All my other firearms are handguns.
Easy to take along to the range !!!

The scope is a Bushnell 3x7 Custom. I own four of them and they are a good lightweight scope option for the Ruger 10/22 TD. The scope is no longer in production but used ones are available on eBay. The scope is not as clear as my older Leupold or Weaver scopes and the feild of view is not very large. With that said, I can still hit clay pigeons at 120 yards with no problems and the scope fits in the bag.
