where to find a cheapish .22 in santa cruz?

Hi all, I am trying to find a place near santa cruz that has the best prices on a .22 rifle, preferably a ruger(because I have experience with that brand from when I was younger)
Also would going to markleys in watsonville and looking for a used one be a good idea? Or would just buying a brand new one be best?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

I never see used 10/22's at the shops in San Jose. I think most people hold on to them.

I think the best price you'll find will be in the Big 5 ad. They always run 10/22's on sale.

Yeah, I looked around a bit and I know Big 5 on 41st has a god amount of .22's right now. I just bought a .22 last weekend from the Calguns marketplace and did the PPT at Outdoor World on 41st. They had 2 or 3 rifles. If I were you, I would either buy one used from the marketplace here on Calguns and check out Big 5 and Outdoor World. See what you like and what you can get a good deal on.

Markleys usually has at least one used 10/22 in the racks. I live in Watsonville and will swing by on my way home tonight, and post what I find.

Markley's was picked pretty clean when I was in there last week. Their pistols were mostly gone and the long gun area only had a few non-shotguns in it. I wasn't really looking at the 10/22's but I didn't see much in the area. My only hope is that the sky un-falls soon so we can see some ammo and guns on the shelf to choose from this year!

Use gun Genie and you can pick up at SC Amory or Perry's place. This is the best deal by far.

I just recently bought a Ruger 10/22 Takedown from Big5 further north from you in the Bay Area and can't wait to go pick it up. I think it was like 420.00 out the door or so.

Big 5 when they are on sale. I think they only carry 3 models of the 10/22
though. Try the new Dick's in Salinis. Online they show all the models at
decent prices. Their ammo seems limited, and somewhat pricey.
Since ammo is so short right now, perhaps getting a couple of the Federal
333 boxes would be better than nothing at all.

Markleys was closed for inventory. Give Rocky & Wes at Santa Cruz Armory a call, they might be able to get you one. If not, buy a used one & have them do the transfer. It's worth the drive to their shop in Boulder Creek just for the experience. It's an 8x12 shed, deep in the woods. Except you know that when they lock you inside, you aren't going to leave with a sore bottom.
