    CZ 455 American

I have a few CZ rimfires (452s and a 455) and I've just noticed on the 455 that when I tighten down the stock screws the front of the barrel touches the inside of the forend, taking it from "free floating" to not free floating. I've noticed my 452s have steel pillars to prevent a bit of "wood crush" but not so on the 455. To tell the truth, I've had the gun apart and may have dropped them, but I'm not sure the 455 comes with pillars. Does anyone know if the 455 American comes with front & rear pillars?

When I reassemble the barrel doesn't touch until I torque down the front receiver screw. I don't think I'm going too heavy. The barrel is their lighter version, not the varmint diameter. The barrel channel in the stock leaves alot of room left & right, it's cut for the heavy barrel.

I did a front and rear pillar/bedded a 452 Varmint before using a male air fitting brass barb and it really tightened up the groups nicely. Doing it to a 455 shouldn't be to hard to do.

Thanks for the info on no pillars. I noticed the 455 stock is inletted as though the receiver would have a large square recoil lug - similar to a Rem 700 for example. But the 455 receiver has no lug up front, it's round on the bottom. I bedded the rifle in the "lug" area & filled in that cut out, sure is easier doing it with the barrel off.

There's not a whole lot of wood at the receiver & barrel junction, being a little agressive with the torque wrench it seems easy to crush the wood. I think the bedding will help.

I removed a touch of wood at the front of the barrel channel and it's now free floated all the way.
