Modding my Marlin 795

Well, boredom struck and I decided to do something...so I plated the innards of my Marlin 795 with Electroless Nickel (from caswell plating). I even heat treated the pieces for hardness...picture attached.

I now find myself looking around for anything else that can be plated.

It's so slick and smooth. The gun doesn't feel gritty

Is that for looks or is it supposed to hold up?
