    Subsonic Ammo

Anyone have experience with subsonic ammo? I want to use it in my 10/22. Did it cycle correctly? Can I buy it locally in the Bay Area and not online? Any help is appreciated.

Shot some CCI Sub-Sonic 22LR HP this weekend in a 1022. No problem cycling.
      Rated at 1050fps.
Boy, this stuff has no kick at all.
Could not find any stock in Bay Area, called several stores.
Ordered it from palmettostatearmory.com Their shipping costs are quite reasonable.

I bought some Remington from Big Five.... At 25-50 yards it was very accurate...at 100 yards it was really dropping off compared to Blazer or CCI but I expected that.

I had Bo issues at all... I wish I could say that about the Remington 30-30 I bought at the same time! :-(

CCI Quiet-22. Subsonic ammo is generally not going to cycle any semi-auto action.

I use Winchester "Super X" 40 Grain Truncated HP`s. It cycles well in my 10/22. Not sure what the Velocity is for the round. Subsonic is made all the way down to low grain weights & no powder, Primer only...very Low Velocity which would unlikely cycle semi auto. I tried several until I found one that cycled well. CTD sells it, Ammo to go also. Brownells/midwayusa maybe.

Havent seen subsonic in san diego, in any stores for a long time.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

What was the problem with the Rem 30-30?

Sounds like you got some of the really slow and lite stuff. Normal standard velocity .22lr does better at long distance (since it doesn't go sub sonic in flight which leads to vertical stringing) than the supersonic stuff does. I used to consistantly be able to hit high power chicken sillouttes at 200 meters with standard velocity Winchester Super X, as well as, the expensive target stuff. There's a reason that .22lr target ammo isn't supersonic.

                    @ CSACANNONEER...

I had zeroed my scope with Winchester HP's... I guess I should have adjusted for the new ammo...

                    @ CAN'THAVENUTHINGOOD...

The 30-30 I bought had 2 FTF out of 15 rounds. Good strong primer strikes just no boom. Was using it in a Rossi Rio Grande lever action.

I only use subsonic ammo out of my stock CMMG's, 10/22's and Marlin 795's.
I stick with ammo rated at 1050 fps - SK Standard Plus or Wolf and they work perfectly, everytime like clock work!

Remington sub-sonic shoots and cycles both my stock 10/22s just fine. Out of my 10/22 TD I get one hole groups at 25yds.

Walmart sells it for $3.57 a box of 50.

CCI Quiet22 is fun stuff. remington subs might cycle with a weak spring

Try Super Aguila with no powder, just primer. Better than a suppressor!
