Problem with my .22 AR build....**UPDATE: Test fire issues**

So I built an 80% .22 AR in another thread with a CMMG dedicated upper. I finally got to take it to the range to try it out. Loaded my black dog 10 rounder with Winchester M-22. Chambered a round, fired, ejected, chambered next round and the FCG did not reset. If I want to fire again, I have to rack the charging handle again which ejects a live round, chambers another and cocks the hammer.

Same results with CCi Stingers and Federal Bulk.

    What could the problem be?

    Did you lube the rail?

      What trigger did you use?

So you Fire a round, the brass ejects, it loads a new round into the chamber?

Then you try to fire... Does the firing pin then hit the rim of the 2nd round? or does it not release the hammer?

Is the bolt fully closed when the new round is chambered after a round is fired?

        Is the bolt lubricated?

Are you using a special trigger or hammer?

Also... I would recommend you check your FCG & especially disconnector... I suspect this kind of behavior on a .22LR setup would probably manifest itself in another manor on a centerfire upper. You might even take the rimfire upper off, and do a full function check of the lower.

Nothing, the hammer isnt cocked after the 1st round ejects

What does a full function check entail? I took the upper off, cocked the hammer, squeezed the trigger and it the hammer released.

Make sure your hammer is not notched, and are you using a CMMG "BHOA" bolt hold open actuator? It may be keeping the next round from feeding properly with Black Dog mags...

When I bought the upper, the BHOA was an option and after a bunch of searching, the BHO doesn't work without extensive mods, and even then might not always work, well with non-evolution mags that is. So I did not get the BHOA.

I dont think thats the issue... Normally it will cause extraction issues.

Just to be clear. Is the hammer following the bolt down after you shoot. In other words is it not cocking the hammer?

So, in my over enthusiastic lower assembly, it appears I forgot the disconnector spring. Function check is now A-ok and will be test firing tomorrow. Flame on!

Oh, before I found the missing spring, I mirror polished the feedramp.

To be fair... I thought you had it in there, just upside down. ---Honestly, stuff like this happens all the time. Don't feel bad.
