Good stuff is...
...the stuff your gun likes. It really does vary. My rifle doesn't like the fancy expensive stuff, but the cheapest remington golden bullets give me nice .5inch groups at 50yards. At ~$20/box try the ones you see consistently available to see which you firearm likes best. It won't be a waste of money even if you find one your gun doesn't like. Kind of like a bad day fishing is better than....

Those 525-round boxes of Remington for $17 run great!"If we make enough laws, we can all be criminals."

Any ammo that works for you. Rimfire guns vary so much even of the same model.
Just have fun shooting and experimenting - its cheap anyway, even the high dollar stuff is cheaper compared to centerfire match ammo.
I have 6 rimfire rifles each like their own ammo. Start cheap until you reach the sweet spot for a particular gun/ammo combo.Comment

Remington, Winchester............ Some complain about Federal, but if it's on sale, I buy it anyway.

I like Federal better than Remington. CCI is OK but, far from "superior". If you are looking for better precision, I would suggest finding standard velosity (sub sonic) ammo. If you just want it to go bang almost every time, CCI would be a good choice that is relatively easy to find.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Of the rimfires we have, the CCI Blazers work great. But our Savage MKII seems to like the velociters the best. I tried Winchester, Remington, Federal, and Aguila. For these guns, the CCI's were the most consistant. Your gun may like something else."You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once."

I've never had a problem with any ammo, but I did have an Anschutz that seemed to be much more accurate with the CCI match grade stuff than the cheapo stuff you buy in a brick.Comment
