Good quality ammo

This depends on the gun. In my bolt action, I never clean the barrel and it eats exclusively LRN. OTOH, I use copper washed stuff in my semis.Comment

The Winchester Super X is the worst ammo I have ever used. Loose or crooked bullets were all too common in the two bulk packs I bought. At least 1 failure to fire in every tube magazine full (I have Model 60s).
The best of the relatively cheap stuff I have used has been CCI MiniMags 40 gr round nose.PaulComment

I don't think the OP asked for "precision" ammo. He asked for "good quality." CCI goes "bang" everytime you stike the rim. I would call that "superior."

OP, Blazer CCI 525 Value Packs function flawlessly in my guns, also very accurate. Find out what your guns like and what your wallet can tolerate...
They are not just bare lead, they have a wax coating on them.
Pretty much all Match grade stuff is wax coated such as Eley... You know the stuff they shoot in the Olympics...
So by your account that would make Remington Golden Bullets better then pretty much all Match grade ammo.Comment

I've always used CCI Minimags....never had any problems with them...so I'll stick with them.Comment

Agreed that rimfires and be random with what they will and won't shoot. That being said the CCI minimags definitely run in everything I've tried and they're the recommended ammunition for a lot of conversion kits and I always keep a good supply around. It's also what I tend to use for the first 500 rounds to break in anything new.
I've also had good luck with the Golden Eagle ammo from the CMP but last I checked you had to buy a case (5K rounds) at a time. If you have a couple of .22s that's no big deal - something will run well with it - but if you only have one I'd test some first.Comment

I’ve never heard of a picky .22 revolver. More than likely the stuff that unreliably feeds/ejects/fires in semiauto .22s will always go bang in a wheel gun, at least thats the case when I shoot the 617.

Many people have problems with Remington Golden Bullets. Lots of FTF's and FTE's. It's also very dirty ammo. As a general rule, CCI, Wolf, and Federal are typically better. Aguila seems to be good too, but dirty. Winchester isn't as bad as Remington, but can be problematic for some. As many have said, YMMV depending on your gun."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. I like CCI Stinger and CCI MiniMag the best. The Stinger works best in my Ruger MkII. The MiniMag in my 10/22, Sig 522 and other rifles.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment
