So I've been browsing ammo and I've had great results with the MiniMags in 36gr HP and 40gr Solid Nose, but am looking into more of bulk ammo options. I've seen that CCI seems to be consistent but was wondering about the Winchester Copper Plated 555 bulk packs; found them around town for under $25 and wondering if it's a decent ammo. Also, wondering about the Winchester M-22 as well. As far as other ammo, Remington's Golden Bullet 22 has been horrible in my experience and really dirty. Wondering what everyone's using in their 795s as I've used MiniMags exclusively up until now and may stay with them if there aren't too many comparable options.

Went to an indoor range with my buddy who's narrowing down choices for his first handgun. Brought the 795 because .45 isn't cheap these days (never was
); shot 254 rounds in under an hour, not 1 FTFire, FTE, FTFeed. Ammo was 40gr MiniMag solid nose and 36gr MiniMag HP. Flawless, except for the adjustable sight needed a bit of tweaking but it's all set. Shooting at 15yds offhand/standing, I put 50rds into the size of a half dollar. Essentially doubled the round count of it in one range trip and remembered how fun of a rifle it is to shoot.

Need help ATI dragunov 795 install
Does anyone have any experience modifying and installing the ATI dragunov/Fiberforce stock onto the Marlin Model 795? I purchased the stock and Im looking for some helpComment

I pick up mine on the 6th. Looking forward to taking it out on the 7th at Manteca Sportsman...
I ordered Tech Sights already and am hoping they come in before I get the rifle, otherwise I'll still take it out.
Any tips on cheaper sling/bi-pod in Manteca area?
I believe my rifle is one of the newer ones with sling attachments molded in

Found a YouTube review on the stock and it mentions fitting and things he had to do to make it work. I don't know much on the ATI stock, sorry.
Best sling recommendations have been the Appleseed USGI 1.25" slings, just need the 1.25" swivels. Congrats on the purchase! I was going to go with TechSights but ended up getting the OEM Marlin adjustable sights; 1/4 the cost and I like having the open sights better on the .22 than the peep sights like on my Mini (Tech Sights). As for the sling studs being molded in, if the rifle is older (12-18 months ago as far as production goes) it may have the actual metal studs and screws; mine did and I've heard of Remlin going to the new style studs but not sure when it's happened (Really recently I supposeI pick up mine on the 6th. Looking forward to taking it out on the 7th at Manteca Sportsman...

.22s haven't been bitten by the panic buying yet and are the best cost/fun ratio out there still.

Thanks for your appreciation of the thread, I love these rifles and strive to know everything about them so I thought I would share all I have learned. Personally I use a UTG scope with UTG mount. Lots of people hate on them but mine has been prefect. It is very clear, holds its zero and I feel was an excellent value.
I have not modded that stock put i have done 2 Boyds stock. Pretty much just need to look at your factory stock and check out the differences. Never seen one IRL but I would guess you need to extend the trigger guard area and cut a larger hole for the bolt hold open. Goodluck, sorry I can't be more help.
Congrats! Great way to ring in the New Year.I pick up mine on the 6th. Looking forward to taking it out on the 7th at Manteca Sportsman...

Sorry I don't know much about the new stock. All I have heard is its sling spot is kinda recessed so a lot of bipods wont work on it. I have also heard that it is kind of a weak spot. Before the 795 they tried doing this on the XT-22 stocks and I heard a lot of em snapped off the small plastic sling stud. If it where me I would probably drill a hole and put in a real metal sling stud..
Sorry I do not know what bipods if any fit the new stocks.
Let us know how it performs. I have heard good things about the Tech Sights but never used them myself. (On a 795 at least, I used em on a friends Remington 597 and was not overly impressed, neither was he as he replaced them. Everyone else seems to love them)Last edited by Chaos47; 12-30-2012, 5:50 PM.Comment

Thanks Chaos and DasBoost.
I'll be at the range on Monday the 7th if not on the 6th when I pick it up!
Anyone buy the DI Products Trigger Kit? TNP recommends, not sure yet. I think I need to just wait for the rifle and shoot some before buying anything else for it, haha.
I'll get the USGI Sling from Appleseed after I verify what kind of studs.NRA Lifetime Member

Hah, DasBoost and I posted at the same time.
Good info in his above post!
Can't view the video atm but I am glad you found something about that stock to help them.
I 2nd all that Boost said about getting the GI sling and 1.25" swivels to match it.
Everyone should go to Appleseed.
Even if you don't the slings are very nice. Probably better then any tactical nylon type one IMO.

I run a DIP bolt handle on both mine and my GF's 795.
I have the guard and wide trigger in mine. I love it, I feel that it does reduce trigger pull even more. (All my springs have been tweaked per the FOGCITYTACTICAL videos) so overall I feel my 795 has a great pull but I lack a gauge to see what it actually brakes at.
I plan on upgrading my GF's 795 with at least the drop in trigger if not a full guard and trigger kit.
Hers has a Silver Helix DIP Handle a sky blue Rimfire Hunter/Target stock by Boyds and uses Williams Fire sights. I also replaced her trigger with a silver one from an older Marlin. If we get her the DIP trigger she wants the Silver guard and trigger.
Mine has a Black Straight line DIP Handle in a limited edition Boyds Tacticool (Black but I want to paint it OD) with a black DIP trigger and guard. I have no sights on mine as it is scoped.
DIP was great to order from, fast shipping good packaging and thru in a camo can coozie with a DIP logo on it, hah!
There is also ArrowDoggers Trigger which is supposed to be VERY light. I have not used one though. Kinda turned me off that it is not drop in and that you have to send it to him and he mods your action for it to work. But the idea bothers me less and less. While its cool that its gold like old marlins it does not jive well with my "sniper" look I am doing with my rifleLast edited by Chaos47; 12-30-2012, 5:52 PM.Comment

Yeah I think I'm going to go all black on this. If it was a 795ss I would go silver trimmings.
I want to get the DIP Charging Handle, though not sure what design yet. Black for sure. I think straight line looks the best, but I wish I could feel them in my hand. Those are installed by just slipping in the new handle where the old one was in the notch on the receiver, no?
I am actually watching FogCityTactical's videos now on the trigger job. I've never done ANY gun smithing and am limited on tools, a little afraid to mess with it, though the results I've heard are FANTASTIC!
Any pics of yours or your GF's build?
I want to look into different stocks sometime too, need to check out what Boyd has.
Oh and Big 5 in central california area (I'm in Manteca) get's deliveries on Saturdays. I called Saturday morning when they first opened and got 2 additional 10rd mags (all they had). I plan to get up to 4 or 5 eventually.NRA Lifetime Member

I love the DIP trigger/triggerguard kit! The DIP kit and an ungraded charging handle are two great upgrades that reduce the 'flimsy' (My personal feelings because of all the plastic and how light it is, not on quality of the rifle, it's AWESOMEThanks Chaos and DasBoost.

) feeling of it.
No matter the sling studs, the 1.25" swivels and sling will work with it; I got KN Precision swivels, but the Blackhawk ones and really any from a quality company will serve you well. The sling stud is what attaches to the swivel (and that is what the sling clips to) and is a fairly universal part.

Thanks man! Means a lot coming from the guy that helped me when I first got my 795. I was looking at the DIP charging handles but ended up with a Rimfire Tactical (Think they're related or branched off from one or the other) and the drop in/clip-in design is great. Along with with the OEM sight and DIP trigger/triggerguard kit, the charging handle completes 795 upgrade trifecta (though I do like upgraded stocks). Your 795s look great! I tried to keep mine OEM+ and am wondering how I even considered selling it after shooting it last time
