    Buckmarks w/ TS Threaded Barrels

For those that have a Buckmark and a Tactical Solutions barrel, which method did you employ to permanently attach a compensator to the barrel?

mine was pinned directly from Tactical Solutions, I had one that was sent to them with an issue that they had to replace the barrel. actually sucks because I liked that barrel better than the one that I got in return. originally it was a 5.5" non threaded matte black where as the new one is more of a gloss black.

I know people that have had gunsmiths actually pin them through the front ports in the comp as well.

I used a drill press and a #43 (.089) drill through the bottom of the comp (located in the same place as the pin in the pics above) and into the shoulder of the threaded barrel extension, stopping about 0.10" from the inner bore. I then tapped the hole in the comp and carefully screwed in a 1/4" long 4-40 setscrew with high-temp Loctite, stopping as soon as I felt resistance (you don't want to deform the thin steel barrel liner).

Wish I'd known that TS would pin it for me!

        Awesome!

Doesn't look welded, so what's holding in the pin?

Would you happen to have a picture of your work?

No, but I can take one when I get it back - I loaned it to a buddy a couple weeks ago.

Not complicated to do if you have the tools. The set screw allows me to take the comp off if I ever need to.

              Hope.
as far as I know it is just locktited in there and ground down so that it can't be removed.

As mentioned the pins are usually a friction fit with permanent Loctite, sometimes you can chill the pin to shrink it a bit before installation.

I have taken some heat from people who say you can't use a screw or otherwise make a threaded barrel end device removable, but others (including my CA 07 FFL contact) say you can. IMHO, if a tool is required to remove the comp, and it is only removed AFTER the barrel is taken off the receiver, I don't see how that is a problem.

Open to feedback from knowledgeable sources, however.

Any Rugers out there with threaded barrels and a permanently attached compensator?

Mine is just red lock tite. It has held on for over 2000 rounds.
Tactical Solutions will not even sell you a threaded barrel if you let on that you live in CA. They think they are breaking the law or something. Meanwhile, I might buy a 5.5" threaded and get a silver comp for it also but not from tactical solution, I will go to gunbroker. They are cheaper.

yeah I think the only reason that they did it for me, was my was a replacement barrel, hell the original barrel was an older version that I picked up at some discount vendor... but TacSol honored & stood behind their product which speaks volumes.

***edit; almost forgot, the last time that I was on Tactical Solutions site they wouldn't sell the Barrels at all through their site, rather pointed you to other online vendors.

I THINK if you send e-mail someone named MAry will get back to you and you can buy things that way. But yeah, nearly 300 for a pinned comp barrel is a bit steep. Got the barrel and comp from gunbroker and paid about $230 when all done and said. THAT is also steep but I feel that I got a good deal at that price. Red locktite is pretty cheap.
