I recently ordered a red-dot mounting plate that bolts directly to my MkIII from Lobos. Since it is a range toy for me I'm putting a leftover RomeoZero on it, so I'm getting the one with the 507K pattern.

Red dot and mount for Browning Buckmark

I don't take the barrel off, I leave it attached to the grip/frame. I figure I don't *need* to take it apart so no reason to. On the other hand, getting the slide off is necessary to get to the hammer, sear, sear spring etc, and getting the rail off is necessary to get the slide off.
It does make me think that a Ruger Mk IV is appealing -- as I understand it the takedown process is nice and easy and has no effect on the optic mounting. I have read that the OOTB Buckmark trigger is nicer than the OOTB Ruger one, such that the Volquartsen kit is pretty important if you want to get the Ruger working very nicely. I don't have enough firsthand experience with the Ruger (or with multiple Buckmarks - I just have one) to know, so take it with the "Read it on the internet" grain of salt. That said, Rugers are a lot more common on the firing line when I'm at a Bullseye event. Of course there are plenty of people with Pardinis and they seem to be very, very nice. Not sure I want to drop $3K on a Bullseye 22 but maybe one day. For now the Buckmark does the job and I have plenty of ways to improve before I'm limited by the equipment.Comment

I came across a Tandemkross mount last night I want to try out. Looks pretty good. Thinking I might order it.
Easy to install essential accessories and upgrades the Marksman Sight System for Browning® Buck Mark from TANDEMKROSS can be installed by the end user and increases performance and reliability.

I consider myself a firearm neat freak but I don't worry about accessing the hammer and sear and junk on my Buckmark. As I said, leery about aluminum frame and steel screw combination, so 9/10 of my cleaning sessions is just multiple squirts of WipeOut in the barrel, a boresnake, and One Shot impregnated q-tips to clean off breach and bolt face and whatever else I can reach with the slide locked back

Did the Outer impact mount with the Holosun 407 green dot.
Next adventure is a threaded barrel and a can. I went to the Midwest Gun works site and saw the disclaimer to use a smith to fit the new barrel.
Wondering if this step is necessary or will it just drop in. It’s the 5.5”.

IIRC, the Buck Mark instruction manual tells you to never disassemble the gun for cleaning. One issue I have with Buckmarks is that you have to remove the rail to take apart the gun for proper cleaning. That means rezeroing / reconfirming zero with the RDS (because I'm shooting at 25 and 50 yards, a tiny change when putting the rail back on will have an effect).

Correct, I didn’t learn that early on.
My threaded barrel arrives Monday and will buy a can on Tuesday. The wait is down to 3 days. After the first of the year the wait times will climb a bit as the prices will decline on suppressors.sigpic
