Could have been dropped by someone. Looks like it could have maybe had something stuck in there to pry on the slide for some reason. I agree,my wife has one of these and that damage did not happen from normal operation of the firearm or when taking it down in my opinion. Thanks

No holster, and it hasn't been dropped. And those gouges weren't there when I picked it up. So it has to be from firing and/or take down.
Well Ruger has it now, so hopefully they can test it and see what's been going on with it, since I'm totally baffled as to how it happened.Comment

blap59,Super bummed about this one. It's a really fun gun, and it looks like it will have to be sent back. There's just too many issues with this one.
First, you can see at the muzzle end, where it looks like the slide is gouging the frame.
Second, you can see the muzzle end of the frame droop down a little bit. Should I ever want to mount a little laser or flashlight, it wouldn't even be pointing in the right direction.
I don't think either of these should be an issue on a firearm, and hopefully I have the same positive experience with Ruger's CS as it seems many CalGunners have. Will keep y'all posted.

Don't worry at all about it cuz most likely they'll repair it for free for you and shipping charges will be on them. I've never hand any of my Rugers returned for repair but I heard they're pretty fast. They're repair it right with a no BS attitute which is what I like....all business that's good for the comsumer.

Was talkin to my coworker today a.d asked about his new Sr22.he said he fired 100 rounds thru it then the slide jetisoned of the frame .He wasnt very pleased and sent it back.Im looking to see if anyone else has heard of it. Im wondering of these marks could be part of the same issue?Comment

Do yourself a favor, buy a Browning 1911 .22 A1. Best .22 auto pistol I have ever owned, including my Colt Service Model Ace I had back in the 1970's.Comment

Actually it's approx. $400.00 otd, not $500. They were on sale at Turner's for $329 last week, now it's back to $349.00.
A nice guy next to my lane let me shoot his and I really liked it. And since it will fit nicely in the Ruger 10/22 TD bag ...

The last 3 Rugers I bought all had to go back to the factory. It's frustrating - but they fixed all the problems and paid shipping both way each time.
My only gripe was that no matter how much I pleaded with them, they never would call or email before sending the gun back (or even provide a tracking number). That means if you're not home, you're SOL and you darn well better be able to arrange to take time off to sign for it before it goes back to them.Comment

I had an issue with the slide on my SR22 as well. It kept catching on something and wouldn't go into battery without help. I called Ruger CS and they emailed me a prepaid UPS label. Sent it out and got it back in 9 days. They replaced the slide and test fired it without malfunctions. Definitely a good experience with their CS department.Comment

Well, took delivery of it today.
Again, super bummed.
Ruger replaced the frame assembly, and this one still has some slight droop, but not nearly as bad as the first. Must be "normal."
Magazine has a really tight fit and needs some persuasion to get seated properly, and of course it doesn't drop freely. Drops maybe 1/2cm when I hit the release. I have to give the mag a good pull to get it out. Frustrating. This should have been addressed when they test fired 30 rounds.
And pulling the slide back, it feels like it has a tighter fit. I'm kind of worried it's not going to cycle well.
Plus I sent it to them with the large grip, and got a small one back. Annoying, but I do like the smaller grip better. But it's the principle.
Definitely going to sling some lead and see if it loosens up a bit, and a call on Tuesday.Last edited by blap59; 05-25-2012, 6:08 PM.Comment

I have shot 825 rounds before the take down lever broke and the slide went flying off. Its back at Ruger but Im still bummed that it needs to be repaired already. Not sure if I will keep it. They need to make the take down lever out of metal or something other than the plastic, IMO.Comment
