CCI Blazer vs CCI Stinger vs Wolf Match

I currently use the WOLF match ammo in both my SR22 pistol and my 10/22 rifle. I get very good results. But others have said to use the Stingers and others said use the Blazers. O fcourse I've been told to use other ammo, but want to just keep the query with these three. Any POV's?

Wolf should be a much more accurate ammo, it is sub sonic and target grade. Some guns dont like to cycle such soft ammo. If yours does, go for it. Blazer is good for cheap blasting ammo, and stingers are pretty hot which picky guns seem to like. But they are not standard size, so dont shoot them in a tight match chamber.

I like the Wolf. Seems to work well for me. Not sure what you mean by tight match chamber. Have tried the Mini-Mag.. nice feel. I guess I was kinda looking to lower the cost of shooting. But like anything else... you get what you pay for.

I will add, don't try to compare subsonic and supersonic ammo. Apples and oranges there.

I get superior precision from Blazer that is weighed and rim thickness measured, but only to the point that it goes subsonic, about 35 yards around here. That transonic barrier is harsh.

I can still hold around an inch at 100 yards, but it takes a lot more doing than with rounds that never go supersonic!

Not sure what you mean by tight match chamber.

Note the warning on the CCI site: http://www.cci-ammunition.com/produc...=1&loadNo=0050 Its typically not an issue with most factory guns. But in a target rifle, or aftermarket target barrel, they cut the chambers to a tighter dimension.

Wolf has the better potential for accuracy but as confounding as it is many .22 rifle barrels are brand blind and will shoot the ammo they like best has been my experience. Best to just try all three brands find the one that groups the best and is reliable in function then buy a bunch of it. If the ammo has lot numbers try for as much of the same lot too.

I'd never use Stingers for anything but hunting, they're not accurate in any 22LR I own but they thump critters quite nicely. That's very expensive ammo compared to plinking grade stuff, not sure why someone would recommend punching paper with it.

The cheap CCI Blazer I've no experience with. If you're just plinking, the cheapo WallyWorld Winchester 555 pack is hard to beat, better for my guns than the Federal 550 packs. The Winchester would work for hunting small critters, nothing bigger than a rabbit.

The Wolf Match Target is very good target ammo, suited only to paper punching but as accurate as ammo costing 2X or more. I use it or SK Jagd (same thing) exclusively in my heavy 10/22.

It's bad for accuracy in very accurate 22LR's to switch ammunition back and forth. It takes some time for the powder fouling and bullet lubricant to condition the barrel, when you switch to something new, you won't get best results for quite a few rounds.

I quit buying Remington anything, and Federal bulk pack. CCI MiniMags are very good quality, for supersonic ammo it shoot very well in a number of guns I have.

I bought a case of Aquila Golden Eagle Target from the CMP a few years back, my sons are whittling it down and I'll buy more as I see it - really good stuff for the $$.

When I buy a new 22LR, I run at least 10 different loads through it to see what it is going to like; Wolf Match Target is one of those weird loads that seems to work well in a wide variety of guns, but most of the time you'll see a distinct preference amongst a decent sized sampling.

10/22 cci stingers

I just picked up a Ruger 10/22 last week and went to shoot it for the first time this weekend. I ended up buying some Rem round-nose bulk (which I've heard is caca), some Rem Yellow jackets (hollow point) and the CCI stingers. I started out with the Rem round-nose bulk stuff and had not one FTE of FTF. Ran flawlesly. I was suprised. Then I moved to the yellow jackets and about every 2-3 rounds I would have a FTF. I noticed that when the round would go to chamber if would get caught up and smash the projectile. The weirdest of all was when I ran the Stingers. I would squeeze off one round w/o a problem but when the next went to be chambered it would get caught up and THE MAGAZINE WOULD FALL TO THE GROUND!! Happened several times lol. I know these rounds are a little longer but I didn't expect it to dislodge my mag. I don't have the target model or whatever other model they say not to run the stingers in (in the manaual), so I figured I wouldn't have a problem. I would have gone with the mini mags but they were all sold out. Oh well...I guess no more stingers. Anyone else have this happen?

Whew... lot of info. I like the Wolf. It shoots well in the 10/22. And it does well in the SR22. It's much better than me! But I do have to admit that the Stingers are a more satisfying shoot in the pistol. Not as accurate as the wolf, but defintely more fun.
Guess I'll stick with the Wolf match ammo for now. May try the "extra" and try a box of ??? every now and then.

I love CCI Blazer 500 & 525 packs. I've found my rifle's favorite bulk ammo with this stuff. I think it's pretty darn accurate for what is is and much better then Federal Auto-match and Winchester Xpert bulk box.

For a mid grade, reliable, less expensive ammo than Wolf Match Target MY rifles (CZ UL, Henry Frontier and Kimber 82G) and pistol (S&W 22A) like Aguila Pistol Match. At $3/50 it comes close to the accuracy of Wolf Match Target for me. But when I want to shoot the best groups, its back to the Wolf ammo. When plinking I use any of the Walmart Bulk ammo in the pistol as it will function flawlessly with any ammo.

For hypervelocity ammo I use the Aguila Intercepter. Tried the Super Maximum and while it has a big punch for a .22lr round, the accuracy is just not there out of any firearm that I own. I don't shoot any hypervelocity ammo in my pistol, hard on the buffer and frame. With the alloys and polymers used in new pistols I think its asking for problems to shoot the hyper velocity ammo on a regular basis.

Just got a new .22LR Six Gun, that said. Haven't shot Wolf though I've heard favorable comments on the brand. I am curious about their 7.62 x 54R product.

The CCI Stinger's are wicked in my new Cowboy .22LR Six Gun! : )

FYI: Wolf Match .22lr is made by SK in Germany and rebranded. It is not the same as the rest of the Wolf line, which is cheap ammo made in Russia. You can't compare the two.
