Can someone give me some recommendation on 22lr caliber handgun?
Looking for more modern looking hangun with easy take down and cleaning. I guess easy cleaning is a must since 22s gets dirty very easily.

When you say modern looking I assume you don't want a Ruger MK-III or a revolver of some kind.

If you want a full size then go with the GSG 1911. I got one and it's a lot of fun to shoot. It's not the most reliable or the most accurate but fun. The SR22P is a bit small if you have bigger hands, but otherwise it shoots great.

Ruger SR22: This is my recommendation because I am a Ruger fan and will have one in a few days.

Walther P22: I have shot this and liked it quite a bit. The grip was a bit weird for my hands and I hated the mag release since it sits on the trigger guard and is a lever instead of a push button on the grip.

Sig Mosquito: Which I have experienced feeding problems with but it loves CCI Mini-Mags, but otherwise liked quite a bit. It also feels like a full size gun and not a smaller 22LR.

ISSC M22b: Have only held this thing and it feels like I was holding a Glock. Not really a fan of Glocks and didn't like this one.

These are just off the top of my head that have the modern look. Of course, it is all opinion and much of this will be based on what you like/feel/decide.

I have or have shot just about every 22 handgun... The Ruger mk series are VERY reliable but are a PAIN to disassemble and heavy. I love my SR22.... it's very reliable (over 1400 rds zero malfunctions), easy to disassemble, light, and fun to shoot. It also mimics most modern firearms which is good for showing beginnings how to shoot. I highly recommend it over any other 22 handgun

How are the mk3?

The Browning Buckmark and the Ruger MK series are the gold standard of 22LR pistols.

Go with which one you like the looks and feel of more.

The Mk3 has a couple of unnecessary safety features such as the magazine disconnect, loaded chamber indicator. Both are easily defeated.

One important note if you ever think you would change the receiver / barrel with say a paclite barrel.
The Buckmark you can do it without the use of an FFL. As the frame is the registered part

The Ruger you would need an FFL and becuase it's not on the safe handgun roster you can't do it in CA because the receiver / barrel is the registered part.

My girlfriend has a Ruger Mk3 22/45 and it's a blast.
My Grandfather has a Buckmark and it was always fun to shoot and very accurate.
I've always wanted a MK Standard because the tappered barrel looks like a Luger imo...

Stick with the Buckmark or the Ruger, skip all the small lookalike guns that have been coming out for the last couple years...

The gold standard of US made .22 pistols is the S&W Model 41.Expensive but worth it in my opinion.

Thought you said you wanted one easy to take down? That is not the Mark III. I have the Ruger SR22 Pistol and that shoots good, accurate and easy to take down. The Mark II is better than the Mark III if you can find one used. Browning Buckmark is a top rated pistol, however I do not have one of those. If you are looking for revolver, look at the Taurus 9 shot. If you can find one in stock or order one, it is going to be a good value. Tough to beat S&W, but price holds some of us back. I stick with my SR22P and four mags. 40 rounds of lead down range quickly. Fun as heck to shoot.

Look no further than the Browning 1911 .22 A1. It will shoot any brand of ammo and breaks down for cleaning EXACTLY like a .45 1911. All the pieces are the same except that it has no swinging barrel link, but just a hole drilled into a block on the bottom of the barrel. I can take mine apart and thoroughly clean it in 5 minutes. This is NOT a fixed barrel gun like the other 1911 zinc based clones out there. Mine is deadly accurate too. The only downside to this gun is that it costs almost twice as much the other 1911 style .22s. But then again, it's a REAL Browning.

i my self own a mk3 and a sr22 pistol , love them both .... but if you looking for accuracy for target shooting , go with the mk3.... if you looking for something to take apart really quick go for the sr22 ..... the mk3 might be harder to pull apart but you dont have to take it apart as often , its a lil more $ but very well worth it ...


BTW: I also own a subie that i am very much in love with , 07 wagon that i bought new , before that i had a 02 bugeye ....

IMO the difficulty of taking down the MK series is highly over stated.
Get a paperclip and a rubber mallet and you are good to go! (2 punches would be handy to have too if you are going to strip it all the way down.)
Field stripping it is pretty simple. Even more so if you disable the magazine disconnect in the MK3.

You can even skip the paperclip if you can hook your fingernail on the mainspring housing lever. These pistols get a bad rap because some people find them difficult to disassemble then reassemble. You can detail strip the bottom half of the gun and put it back together in about 10 minutes.
