    QUIET

What the quietest 22 rimfire round I can easily buy. Big Five, local gun store.Have some annoying critters trying to get in to my backyard from the open space, behind my house.

    Any help would be appreciated

CCI 22 CB shorts. Very quiet. You can usually get them at Walmart.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Buy a break open pellet gun. Unless your out in the country / city limits I wouldn't shoot in the backyard. Pellet gun shoot all day and no one knows.

Exactly. You can get a silenced pellet gun that will not make a sound and it will be deadly to small critters. You don't want to using a firearm in city limits.

The cb longs are some of the quitest thing ive tried that can still do the job past 25 yards. 29g at 710 fps.

CCI CB long, remington CBee, remington subsonic would probably be the easiest to find at Walmart. Might sound like a balloon popping out of your Buckmark.

I would suggest going with the pellet gun. Even if the shot sound is negligible, it'll still be easier to explain a pellet gun vs. a firearm if the cops show up at your door.

a friend of mine found some .22 lr ammo that was primer fired (no smokeless powder, just primer driven) was enough to punch through a 1/4 inch of plywood at like 30 feet..

but is an annoying squirrel or coon really worth some serious issues with the law dogs?

Aguila Colibri! Primer fired and it is super quiet when fired by a rifle.

                            Colibri 20gr @ 375FPS
                            Colibri 20gr @ 500-650FPS

I've shot both and they ARE quiet. For the most quiet use possible, use a bolt action rifle vs. a semi-auto (won't cycle anyway).

NOTE: they don't recommend shooting the non-super Colibri stuff out of rifles unless you can confirm that the round exits the barrel

Glad to see someone noted the issue with Colibri rounds not recommended for rifles.

On another note for the OP, be sure to check county and city laws/ordinances for shooting. In the area I live in you can't even shoot a BB gun. A young kid was arrested last year for shooting a BB gun off of a rear deck into the forest. Sounds crazy I know, but gotta know the laws.
