    M&P22 not on the Roster?

    Hey there,

I just put a SR22P in 30 day jail and wanting to get another Rimfire pistol.

I was looking at the M&P22 but it doesn't seem to be on the roster.

    I just want a confirmation.

The S&W/Umarex M&P-22 is not on the approved list.

      Because...

The S&W/Umarex M&P-22 has a threaded barrel, which makes it an assault weapon. [PC 30515(a)(4)(A)]

Bought a gun this month and have to do that 1-in-30 day rule.

Also there is no mention of it having a threaded barrel.

There is also no mention of it having a magazine release safety either. And, without one of those it can't even be tested.

            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

And Walthers .22's are made by Umarex. Umarex also owns Walther however they are still essentially two different manufacturers.

There's no mention of it on the website, but...

It comes with a threaded barrel, similar to the Walther P22 threaded barrel, and it has a magazine disconnect mechanism.

So, S&W/Umarex/Walther just need to come up with a non-threaded barrel for it so that it can be eligibile for testing to be placed on the approved list.

Well crap. I didn't want to hear that. I was hoping to get one via an interstate interfamiliar transfer.

Do you know if one was to use the locktite method of fixing the cap would you still be able to break it down for cleaning?

The threaded barrel is similar to the Walther P22 threaded barrel.
So, similar that the Gemtech noise suppressor adaptor works on both of them.

So, using the Walther method may be a work around, but unsure how CA DOJ views it.
Since, Walther not only locktites the muzzle cap, they use a different type of muzzle cap (one that does not have the wrench flats on it, which the original muzzle cap does).

So, may be red locktite and different (smooth) muzzle cap?

I wonder if Walther will sell me one of those smooth caps?
