Ok, Remington GB .22 does suck

Took me learning for myself the hard way, but man does my Marlin 60 hate this stuff. Bought a bulk pack of it on sale on a whim, took it to the range for the first time last night, and no less than 3 jams/FTFeeds in the first 10 shots. Switched over to CCI Blazer and ran like a top. Guess the GB will be reserved for the .22 revolver.

In summary, just one more testimonial that this ammo is no good (at least for autoloaders).

    Bckline,
Sorry to hear about your Marlin not liking them. I guess my semi-autos just love them. My jc higgins (now gone) gave me some wonderful groups with the 40g golden. My henry loves the 40g too and the newest addition savage 64fxp loves the 36 or is it 38g goldens.
Oh well i hope its not a waste in your pistol.

It's one brand of ammo I avoid too.

There are many choices of quality .22 ammo at decent prices there's no need to buy any that doesn't work well for you.

Funny how what runs great in one gun makes another gun choke like there's no tomorrow. The pistol seems to eat pretty much anything, so I'm sure it won't be a total loss.

Yeah, same experience here. My Marlin 60 and S&W 22A pistol both jam frequently with that stuff. WOrks ok in a bolt action...

It your rifle not the ammo - every rimfire is different including same models. I get flyers with the GBs in my Winchester Wildcat but its nice and tight groups in my dedicated CMMG 22LR uppers.

I guess .22's can be picky "eaters". I have a Marvel Precision rimfire kit for a SA 1911 Loaded Target. Talk about finicky. Several different CCI loads and Federal loads gave me about a 30% FTF rate.

I had a box of 40 gr. GBs that I tried in desperation. They ran through that 1911 like water through a seive. No malfs at all, and printed very consistent groups too.

Yeah, just use it in your revolver so you only have to deal with the duds and not the jams.

More accurate statement. .22 LR firearms generally display ammo preference to one degree or another. Yours just doesn't like GBs. That doesn't make either the ammo or your rifle suck, it's just a fact of rimfire life.

It has worked fine for me (or more to the point for my 9-year old). On our last range day he fed this ammo through a AR-15 with CMMG conversion kit, a P-22, a Henry and a 10-22 without any problems.

However, .22's, as said before, tend to have preferences for certain types of ammunition. I had a Kimber conversion kit at one time that was extremely picky - part of the reason that I do no longer have it

I can use Remington on my GSG 1911, and SOMETIMES my 10/22 will accept it...but she don't like it!

Yes, GB is lousy ammo. I'd much rather shoot Federal or CCI. And even Winchester bulk over Rem GB. I do think Rem subsonic is good for the price but I only shoot that in bolt action 22s.

I think GB sucks because I get about 5 per 100 that don't have any primer in them. I have tried these duds in 2 or 3 guns until they had 4 different firing pin marks. They did have powder in them.

I think they might be good for anti-flinch training, tho.

We had problems with Rem GB with an AR conversion kit and a Remington Viper. Fail to load was the principle issue in both cases.

I just hate how dirty that ammo is. My guns look like my daughter threw gold glitter at them after I am done shooting for the day. That and it worked in my sig 522.
