I see that Alexander Arms has an AR upper in 17 hmr now, anyone had any experience with this. I know that 17 hmrs in semi auto have had alot of issues, but the AR platform is much more beefy then a 10/22 magnum converted to 17. Any thoughts or anyone had an opportunity to see or try one. They're a little pricey, but it looks like they are using a high quality match barrel and they include trigger parts. I love my 17 bolt gun and a dedicated 17 AR might be different.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

ummmm...i like the .17 HMR.
in an AR platform? i'm not certain.
i'm watching California state legislature to move, legislatively, on the .17 HMR in the future as it will penetrate low level body armor from close range.
i think i might move toward the .204 Ruger in the AR even though a BB is required with it here. the .204 is laser beam flat shooting, accurate to the extreme and has much, much, more oomph for a small bore. (Yes, i know it is a center-fire and it's re-loadable) it's not nearly as limited as the 17 HMR.

I thought 17 HMR could not be reliably fed semi auto from magazine? The issue I recall is there is too much leverage on the bullet shank in the neck of the case. There are warnings on boxes of 17s. Has this changed?Comment

Guess I'm old news. Read the AA FAQ and it sounds cool.

I understood that the problem with 17 in a semi wasn't a mag feed problem as much as a pressure problem. Since most of the 17 semis that were recalled or discontinued were mainly 22 magnums beefed up to handle 17, I think using the AR platform would give them a beefier starting point to begin with. Since the gun was designed from the ground up, working backwards from a centerfire to a rimfire, that they have probably addressed this issue. The only drawback I can see so far is the price, but I'd still like to try one. The beta rifles are out and Im waiting to see some range and field reports, but I think I'm gonna start saving for one. I think I'd like it much more then a 22 AR.Comment
