    Left hand .22lr AR15 upper???

having trouble finding a left hand .22lr dedicated upper. I hear CMMG makes some kind of conversion kit for left hand uppers, but I'm looking for a dedicated one. Is there anything out there???

Might want to PM our Calgunner: Shadow65

Dave's our CMMG rep here at Calguns. Pretty much everyone goes to him for CMMG rimfire needs. He should be able to assist or at least answer your questions.

Thanks.....does that mean that lefty uppers are pretty much a special order thing? I dont want this to be an expensive build, I want to slap the complete upper on a $100 complete lower and start plinkin with my wife!!!

Yeah if you find a cheap way to do this let me know. For what I came up with it would cost as much as a .223 upper or more depending on how build savvy you are. Closest thing I could figure was to start with a stag and build it into .22. Then you got to get it to work reliably without any kind of warranty.

exactly! i've found some questionable .223-.22lr kits but nothing with rave reviews on reliability, and the uppers are more expensive than what i want to spend. I'm not build savvy though so i could be thinking about it wrong. If anyone out there knows how to do this cheap and reliably i'd be open to it...

not for me, it'd be for my wife. She's left side dominant, not just left handed. Her right eye is weak so shooting left handed is the only way that is comfortable for her. She's tried my Mossberg 702 right handed and...well....it wasn't pretty. I want to build her a left hand .22 AR simply because i want her to get into shooting more. And with the New Frontier $100 complete lowers, if i could find a <$500 left hand .22lr upper, i could make that happen.

I'm also thinking about getting any other LH .22lr rifle, but i know i could customize the AR for her to look "cute" which she'd really enjoy and want to shoot more.

I'm sure Gucci or Prada probably make Tactical purse/lip-gloss holders right???

Hmm... what about a CMMG dedicated barrel, a left-hand conversion kit, and an adapter collar with a cut made for the left hand extractor installed in a left handed upper receiver? It would be a few more bucks than a standard right hand dedicated upper, but I think it would work.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I think that's what CMMG's conversion kit is. Not 100% though. But if i'm gonna buy a LH .223 upper, i don't want to have to permanently make it a .22lr upper if i don't have to. If the conversion can be switched back and forth that would be great, but i'm not buying a complete upper just to destroy half of it. Also, i think the CMMG kits only work with Stag receivers which aren't the cheapest.

could be wrong on that though...still looking into it.

The left hand comnversion from CMMG is stainless and comes with forward assist.
The CMMG stainless is very reliable. It also has a Lifetiome Warranty.
CMMG does have modular upper receivers that can be set up in many variations inclusing left hand. Not released yet but it shouldn't be long.
Stag has left hand 5.56 uppers and receivers for a complet upper or a build.

I looked into that too, and I can't seem to get around the extra expense of lefty uppers. When I'm building a plinker cost is paramount. . . For me at least.

Also you could probably get a LH upper & .22LR build kit from CMMG... Then get a LH conversion bolt from them and convert it to a dedicated bolt. I'm sure you could get CMMG to do all that work for you. A custom order for sure, but IMHO it is possible.

Both ar-15's and colt 1911's work just fine for left handers, but if you ever want to sell them you now limit yourself to just 10% of the population. Of course we all say we'll never sell them but "stuff" happens.
