Trying to decide on a new .22 pistol. What say the great Calguns opinion? I know not many people have the Ruger Sr 22 but I just would like to hear if anyone has an opinion on those two.

Browning Buckmark or Ruger SR22?

Based entirely on seeing the sr22 in pictures and video, I'd get the buckmark. Why? Because I think the "upside down" frame mounted safety on the sr22 is a horrible idea. If it were a slide mounted safety(I don't like those either), it's operation direction would make more sense to me. -

That's what I figured, go with a product that has been tested and true.sigpic

As a Buckmark owner I have to say get the Buck.
However, as a Ruger fan I will be getting an SR-22.
I previously had the Walther P22 but it showed alarming wear early on so I sold it.
Hopefully the SR22 will hold up OK.
I think the Buckmark is best with some sort of optic as it has the accuracy to take advantage of them.
The SR22 would be a "combat pistol" type plinker for me...they are two different guns even though they are both autoloader .22sLast edited by ojisan; 02-09-2012, 9:57 AM.

Love my Buckmark slab side, with the URX grips and a Pride Fowler Rapid Reticle red dot on it. Even in my inexperienced hands the Red dot makes target acquisition and accuracy amazing.
That being said, if I was going to buy another one, I'd probably get either the version with the rail built into it. Or the camper special with URX grips that the LGS had on sale for $399. Came with 3 mags and a decent carrying case.
Another selling feature for the Buckmark? It can use the Ulitmate Clip Loader... I don't know if the SR22 can (MK series can though). Loading the mags that quickly is just great!Comment

I have nothing but great things to say about my buck mark URX. I love everything about it. And the modifications are bad ***. It's accurate as hell to. I would vote 100 percent to go browning but maybe I'm bias. Honestly am very happy, more satisfied than I thought I would ever be shooting a 22 if u know what I mean haha.Comment
