    Best rimfire black rifle?

Finally decided to get a .22LR black rifle to my other toys.

    I don't much about them .

I see that mostly they sell fir 400-600.

Which ones are REALLY good? Or are they all about the same?

I am willing to spend what it takes to get one. ( I just want to have one).

    Thank You .

I own a gsg5 and the S&W 15/22. My friend owns a Sig 522 and the Colt m4. Of the 4, the Sig and S&W are my favorites. The gsg5 feels more like an airsoft toy than a quality firearm. I like that the 15/22 uses almost all real AR15 parts, but the Colt uses a lot of proprietary parts. I won't bash the Colt, it shoots just fine. I just like the Sig and S&W better.

This has come up more times that I can count. M&P15-22 seems to always come out on top. In fact, I seem to remember at least 2 different polls for this some question.

Get the M&P15-22 and do not look back.

Hands down the S&W MP15-22 or a Sig522. I'm biased towards the mp15-22 cuz I own one. If you own an AR then you'll feel right at home with the MP but on the other hand I've heard nothing but good things about the sig. I held the sig at the store and it didn't feel good to me.

Check mag prices for whatever you want, then make sure that you can get some mags with steel lips. I don't own the upper yet, but this is my suggestion just owning a 10/22, and some ARs (one will be 22lr with standard Ciener mags which EVERYONE has for sale), and I have done SOME research. This is just what I am planning after doing some reading, as I don't want to limit myself with 3 lowers to just 22lr (and quick swapping of parts if the need arises) on one that I can only get parts from one vendor for a particular model that may be discontinued in the future (as so many niches are, while not maintaining backward compatibility?).

We're very happy with a 15-22 that is nearly 2 years old now. No probs. The kid has run it in a couple tac carbine classes alongside the AR's and with the same controls can pick up one of our AR's and operate them well.

That said, they're all pretty cool little rifles, so price/dealer/deals might make a difference?

              Have FUN whatever you choose!

I agree with most: M&P is #1, with Sig not far off

M&P 15-22. Followed by the Sig 522. Only because the two are true to their bigger brother centerfire versions. The GSG 522 is cool, but the two that I have owned were not very accurate and had a lot of failure to feed issues with bulk ammo. I love my 15-22 and have shot a Sig 522 and liked it so much its going to be the next rimfire purchase I make.

Theres also the option of going with the Ruger 10/22 and putting it into the Arkangel Marauder stock.

The only thing I can truly say with all certainty is stay away from anything made by Umarex. I almost bought a Colt M-16 rimfire that they make. It felt like complete garbage, accuracy is horrifying and its covered with non-functional parts like a fake forward assist and non-functioning bolt catch.

I would also add CMMG 22lr rifles to the mix. PM Shadow65 to get some great deals.

I own the SIG 522, GSG5, and the Colt M4. Out of those three, the SIG is probably the best built. I personally don't like the S&W because of its all plastic construction. All are "fun" guns and very accurate including the S&W. I have shot my friends and it is a good shooter. To me it feels more "toylike" than all the others. When you buy one of these, you need to keep in mind that these are "fun" guns and should always be treated as such and not really be compared to their center fire counterparts. Despite the naysayers, my Colt M4 is VERY accurate and trouble free. I have cleaned it only a couple of times and NEVER had any issues. Again, these are only "fun" guns. Anyone treating them more than that is deluding themselves. If you want an M4, buy the real .223 rifle.

I own a S&W M&P 15-22, Colt Umarex M4 Ops, and a Ruger Sr-22. I have listed them below in the order of my preferance and why. This is just my .02 I am not a firearm gurue like a lot of these folks.

S&W M&P 15-22 - Positives - It shoots accurately, looks awesome, you can add many aftermarket parts like most AR platforms, controls work like most AR"S Negatives - It is light compared to most AR's, it really, really likes to be clean

Colt Umarex M4 Ops - Positives - It shoots accurately, looks pretty cool, weight is similar to most AR's Negatives - Controls don't work, just for looks, not many aftermarket parts unless you modify them, Magazine well is very tight (I believe it will loosen up a little with time)

Ruger SR-22 - Postives - Built on the most reliable semi auto action ever made (10/22), Shoots anything, Shoots accurately Negatives - Not a real AR platform, doesn't look as cool as the others, Doesn't really feel like a run and gun type assualt rifle

Like I said, this is my .02 based on my experiences with my guns. I have pics available if your interested.
