    22 pistols

I'm buying a pistol either Monday or tuesday. I wanted a sig mosquito but have read several reviews calling it junk. I liked the feel personally but never fired it. Anyways I'm leaning towards the WALTHER p22 I liked te feel and have read several reviews.

I also was looking at an imitation 1911 22 forgot the make. But basically I'm interested in talking to people that know the WALTHER p22 and or have knowledge of any22 handguns that are worth mentioning. Thank you very much I can't wait to have a fun Plinker. Thanks calgunners

The 1911 was probably the GSG CA version. Some of the current .22lr handgun options are the Mark III, Browning Buckmark, Sig Mosquito which you've ruled out, Walther P22 and there may be a few others. I like the reliability of a Ruger and the Buckmark is next on my list. These are probably two of the more popular .22lr handguns that people use.

if i was gonna spend money on a tacticool 22 pistol it would be a ruger sr 22. But if I was gonna buy just one i would make it a ruger .22-45

we have a bunch of guns we use for classes...

shot a clients sig mosquito recently ... hated the trigger pull ... way way worse than the walther p22 we have about 10,000+ rounds through... so many we blew it up once and smith fixed it...(cracked the slide last year)

Look at the walther... or the GSG... I've got a GSG on order for clients to use and will be able within a year to let you know how it worked out... if ya ask...

Or 22LR uppers. I recently bought a 22LR upper for a Beretta, and it's proved to be a lot of fun, cheaper than any 22LR gun I can buy. And I can tear it down, and improve my skills with the Beretta for 3 cents a round...

Just another option. Cause I had been looking at 22LR pistols for about 2 years - nothing seemed right. I had a Ruger Single Six (OM), and it was cool as heck, but the SA load/unload was just a pain.

            great point!

we have two...one advantage arms for the glock...which works ok with rem. golden bullets and great with cci... but since clients use it.. it's rem....

the sig 226 conversion is mostly flawless... many thousands of rounds through it....

Yeah, I cut off my post somehow, but 1911's, Sigs, Glocks, also have this option.

I was really surprised that the upper I bought eats Federal ammo and didn't require CCI stingers..

Happy Ruger Mark III 22/45 owner here. I thought about some other options like the Buckmark, GSG, ISSC, Mosquito, and P22. Went with the Ruger because:
                1) supreme reliability
                2) cost of pistol is less than others
                3) cost of magazines is less than others
                4) pretty good stock trigger
                5) trick aftermarket parts are abundant- you can almost build a complete gun out of aftermarket parts
                6) reports indicate it's more accurate than others with the exception of the Buckmark which is equally accurate

I would stick with either a Ruger 22/45 or a Browning Buck Mark. Both are reliable and have plenty of customizing potential.

Bought a 51/2 inch barrel black buck mark with the grip and a "slab" barrel if I'm not mistaken? But fell in love beautiful great gun the other were pieces of **** or felt like it. Only one i really really wanted was the rugar hunter that's a bad *** 22

Sorry it's a urx with a slab barrel. I'm already drooling over the tactical solution barrels and modifications

mkIII. It's a cluge to disassemble but you don't need to very often and they'll outlast your great grandkids.

I only own ruger Mk series for .22 pistols. Not that I didn't used to have a sw22a and a buckmark but really, the ruger has been a way better gun overall.

I own a S&W 22A that I love. Everyone that has shot it has liked it.

Walther is a peice of junk, S&W is Ugly, best choice is the Ruger MK II 4" heavy barrel (now discontinued but you should be able to find one)
