I do not know if you decided anything but heres a pic of my Sons Nikon 3-9x40 They really are nice scopes...The mount on his AR22 is probably heavier than most scopes but we needed the cantalever and height to clear his flip sights...

OUTLAWZ, you might want to think about the capability of your Ruger 10/22 carbine. Most stock 10/22 can't shoot any better then 3/4 inches at 50 yards. I would try to save some money to upgrade you 10/22. Just look at the upgrade of hadesomega's 10/22 on his post. His upgrade could cost upward of $500 or more. That is the problem I found out when you own a Ruger 10/22. You just keep upgrade the rifle and is endless. Good luck

Thanks for the picture AR22. Good looking setup for your son. I haven't made a decision yet but am trying to soon! I can say that the Nikon Prostaff is one of the top contenders.

I have given thought about range capability for the stock rifle, Viper49. What you saying is entirely true and reconfirmed my reasoning to invest in a slightly better scope for a bit more that will be capable of handling longer range then that of a stock 10 22. Despite me saying that I would like to keep the rifle stock, I would like to give myself options if I can't abstain from upgrading. Boys and their toys right?

Thanks for the suggestions ejhc11. I'll mark another one for Bushnell. I'm actually surprised that the Bushnell 3200 2-7x32mm, 12oz, 11.6" long is rated 3 stars plus(Higher then some Leupold, Nikon, Mueller, Sightron, Simmons and Weaver) with the price of $149. I think another contender has appeared to challenge the BSA and Nikon.

            Thanks and Happy Holidays

Thats a pretty close estimation I think its around 400 in upgrades. But yes upgrading a 1022 can get pricey but thats what makes it fun and its easy to work on. I think most people put the money on the barrel, I see most people spend more than the actual rifle on the barrel.

But I also have another 1022 that is my dad's and he's had it since like early 90s, I've a shoot a ridiculous amount of round through it and I can still punch out a bullseye at 15ft with it with a cheap air rifle scope, but that's my indoor rifle. For the most part its a stock rifle. Up to 100 yards is going to be tough on the 22.

My next rifle will be a CZ452 though, I heard these amazing rifles can do 100 yards with irons! Can't beat that fun and trigger time you get with a 22 though.

Better glass trumps magnification and gadgets every time. I would personally go with the Sightron S1 3-9x32 for $120. Sightron is know for excellent clarity and light transmission. A 32 mm scope will also look perfect on a 10/22 and for your stated purpose, an excellent choice. Small, lightweight and great glass.

The sightron has really good clarity for the price. I have a 3-9x that was originally on my CZ but i've since I put it on my AR. I wish it had mil-dots or click adjustments.
I wanted to put a scope back on my .22 so I put on a centerpoint that I had laying around. Its a 4-16 and its a bit big for the little .22 but I'm happy with it. It has mil dots, click adjustments, parallax adjustment and an illuminated reticle. its was $70 from walmart. Clarity is not great especially at full power, but its fine for my purposes.

Recommended a Bushnell 3200 2-7x32mm in black matte in a previous post here, but noticed you have a stainless like my Ruger. Here is another Bushnell 3200 in stainless for less dollars and its a 3-9x40mm. These are probably the best scopes in the price range due to clarity and quality. Most others are not made in Japan. Even a Nikon Monarch and their Nikon AR-223 scopes are made in the Philiipines, just like my Burris Fullfield E1.

Thanks for the suggestion Izzy43 & thenodnarb. I will mark two up for Sightron.

thenodnarb, I think you are the second person replying on this thread that has mentioned mounting their scope intended for .22 on to AR platform and wished for the scope to be more versatile.

During the time I have been researching for the scope, I have found myself asking that same question and think that I want a scope that can offer more then just rim fire specifics.

To make matters more confusing for me, I called my dad today to ask his advice with my scope selection and was told to invest good money in a scope like a Bushnell Elite or something comparable or better despite him knowing it would be for a 10 22. His point was since I was buying a scope, I should get one that has all the amenities that I could want and ask for just to have if I ever change my mind.

Sorry for being indecisive, never been that great at making decisions. I would love to hear your new suggestions. Thanks ahead for your patience guys.

                      Merry Christmas!

Thanks for revisiting the suggestions ejhc11. I've been looking at the Bushnell Elite 3200/4200 and have found several within $250 to $140. I don't quite understand why the various sites all price them differently. Model description the same but several different versions and pricing. Does anyone have an answer for that?

How is Bushnell in the warranty department? Is it lifetime? One year? Thanks.

The Bushnell 3200/4200 lineup are being phased out into one name - Elite. Most of the scopes are carried over under one name. Merchants are just clearing up stock.

They all still have lifetime warranties and you can't go wrong with either - not made in China - all Japanese scopes.

                            Leupold 4x9x40

I have a mint condition Leupold rifleman (BDC) 4x9x40 on my 10/22 I bought from Big5 for $274 with PEPR mount ($70) - I'll sell both for $220 if interested. Advantage of Leupold is not only the quality but also the lifetime warranty - can't go wrong. I'm selling only because I have another project needing funds.
Comes with box & papers & receipt
