    Calling all CZ owners..

Ok Iv'e read myself into confusion again. I have decided on a CZ 453 Varment .22 Yahhhh.

so then I started reading about scopes and I think I'm going to get a burris FF tac30 3x9 or a 4x14..... I would like to shoot at 100 or 200 yards.

My real issue is the scope mounts, the CZ site dose not say so buy I'm assuming that we are talking about the 11mm dove tail? or is it the 3/8" Dovetail Groove seen on some vendor sites?

Also how are the CZ rings? I see that CZ and many others offer adapters. Would we the people of CalGuns think that a base adapter is more accurate and or allow for the use of better quality rings?

Input much appreciated. I'm heading down tomorrow to order and start my 10day countdown.

CZ charges an arm & a leg for their rings, mags & such. I usually buy the Burris version.

Regarding the 453, if it's the "American" version it will take 3/8" type like any other 22. The "Euro" version uses an 11 mm groove and although it's a touch different from the 3/8" it's close enough that pretty much any 3/8" ring I've ever tried works. Warne makes a "7.3" brand for the 11mm, all steel and well made ring.

The rimfire central link has tons of info - so why go with the 453 instead of the switch barrel 455?

CZ rings are spendy but high quality. I have some for my 513 when it wore a scope. Now I just shoot open sights. And no, I'm not selling them

CZ has used both size groves across its line up. Rifles like the American have 3/8th grove and others have the more Euro 11mm. You would want to check it out as some rings fit both well and some don't. BKL has mounts that work with both and I use those. They have a feature that maintains the center when you tighten the ring to grove and allows you to remove the ring without damage to the grove.

I would like to shoot at 100 or 200 yards.
With 22lr, invest in some wind flags. With a 3X9 scope on 9 and the typical thick cross hairs you will have a lot of the target covered at 200. The 3X9 scope works ok at 200 when your target is a lung/heart of a deer with centerfire hunting. Please don't "hunt" with a 22lr at 200 that is not what I mean. But when your target is .22 or your last shot then not so good. Your accuracy will be limited to the amount your scope subtends at 200. At 100 it will be ok but not small. Your spread will be much more than the accuracy of the rifle/ammo. What is the point. You must aim small to miss small. The scopes you list will aim big and miss big at 200yrds with a 22lr.

As a previous post said, all the answers about rings for your CZ are over at rimfirecentral.com. In the CZ sub-forum be sure to read the "sticky" posted by Sophia, she's a CZ expert.

Shooting @ 100-200yds, what kind of accuracy are you looking for at those ranges? A 3-9x scope probably won't get it done at those ranges. If you are target shooting I would suggest no less than 24x for those ranges.

Also be careful what scope you select as some scopes do not have enough internal elevation adjustment to get a .22lr on zero @ 200yds so a mounting base or rings with built it elevation may be necessary or Burris Signature Zee Rings have inserts to give an additional +/- 20 MOA. They are excellent rings by the way.

I use the BKL rings on my 452's. They are a nice fit and keep my scope nice and low.

Will you be hunting with this gun, or just plinking? I'm only asking because 100 to 200 yards is a stretch for a .22 LR if you're hunting game.

CZ's are very accurate, so I would not skimp on scope power, unless weight is an issue.

Just plinking, I have just started shooting in the last 6 months and my .223 ammo is toooo expensive. so i thought that a bolt action .22 would be great for practicing all the skills cheaply.

I shoot 20 power at 100 yards sub MOA
With 20X I can read my target with the scope.

I used a pair of the 15.00 ebay 11mm mounts which have worked out excellent. I have heard horror stories how some guys couldn't get there scope to zero because they ran out of adjustment.
