Raptor, I don't think an occasional shooter/plinker will see a difference, having been one myself for many years, and still am. The difference is likely to be measured in 1/4" or 1/2" increments, and no occasional shooter is worried about half an inch, even if you take it at 50 feet.
If I didn't already have a S&W Kit gun with a 4" barrel to be my trail gun, I would get one in a heartbeat.

thanks guys, I am pretty much inclined towards Single Six SS

Now, can you guys recommend where to get it from? buds has it for $447 +tax+ $70 ( FFL, DROS) = $552.

Any other cheaper place to buy it?

      thanks

Raptor, unless you want a new gun you should keep you eye on the for sale section here. I don't see many stainless 22s but you can save some money buying a used Single Six. I just picked up a Blue 5 1/2" 1968 convertible for $325 in great shape. Good luck and I hope you find what you want.

the state does not regulate any single action revolvers. if it is a true single action wheel gun it is kali legal plus i already have a single 10 so yes its legal

i got my single 10 at alquist arms in turlock $572 out da door i prefer it to the single 6 based on 66% higher ammo capacity adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front. i've never felt the urge to own a 22 magnum 22lr for cheap kicks and nine mil and above on a more conservative rd per hr.

                Here's just another opinion.... mine.

I own a SS single six. I love it. I use the .22mag cylinder MORE than the .22LR, that's just me. I prefer SS to blue any day. I love the fact that the SS is a more "all weather" finish for harsh environments like when I'm camping in the cold, damp mountains for days.

Blue is perfectly fine, but SS is better in my opinion. (I'm not an expert, just giving my .02cents because the question is asking for everyone's opinions). With SS, there is less maintenance on the finish which is a BIG TIME plus for me. Many seasons, I've been quail hunting during the end of the season, only to be walking around in the rain. Having a little .22 sidearm in SS on my side is a great thing in wet conditions. I don't have to rush home or to the truck and spray it down with oil. I can do it later and not have to worry about it.

That being said, I definately would love to own the Single-Ten. 10 rounds in a SS package just looks awesome! Yeah it's only .22LR, but who cares? The trade off is that you get 10 rounds of .22LR vs. 6 rounds of .22MAG. I'll take that trade any day. If I really need a more powerful revolver on my side, I can carry a 6 shot .38spl or bigger. The (((R-E-P-O-R-T))) of a .22mag or .38spl is pretty much the same.... Darn loud!

I also have a genuine Colt "New Frontier" with interchangeable cylinders (.22LR/.22MAG). I love that blue gun as well. But to be able to carry a 10-shot revolver is absolutely priceless in my opinion.

I'd get the single-ten If I could only choose one gun. In fact, I believe that will be my next purchase, thanks to this thread!

Raptor3000, you can get a stainless steel Single Six for $576 OTD from Target Masters in Milpitas if you're located in the Bay Area. They had one in stock as of Thursday afternoon (10/27). It's truly a beautiful piece o' kit.

I picked ups a single 10 a few months ago from:

But my FFL doesn't charge tax.

I've been very happy with it and it works great as I knew I didn't need to shoot 22 mags on our smallish property with the nearby neighbors. It's great shooting the CCI subsonics. Seems accurate enough for shooting clays as targets at 15 yards. It's fun to shoot and slow it down with a single action instead of semi-auto. If you don't need the 22 mags, I'd go single 10. Lots of fun, less reloading.

Just DROSed Ruger Single Six SS.

$497 + DROS + tax is the price OK?

                      thanks

I have a 4-5/8 inch SS single six and love it. Like some have said blue is fine but stainless not only looks good but is easy to clean. I want a single 10 but will wait till they come out with a 4-5/8 barrel.

I put a birdshead grip on mine and it sure balances out the look IMHO.

Looks good for those times you want to walk around your house wearing a .22 cowboy rig hahahaha

Seriously, great little guns. Gun pictured is a blued single six but if I had a choice between that or a stainless single ten for the price I paid, I definitely would have went for the stainless single ten. Either way I think you'll be happy with whatever you end up with.

You'll never forget the sound of the 22 WMR. I had a 1959 Single Six, bought it for fun. Realized that SA loading and unloading is kind of a drag. Sold it to a nice collector who sold me the 22LR cylinder.

Single 10's are very expensive, IMO....

Trouble is, I can't think of a DA 22 revolver that is affordable... Yes the ancient H&R are, but can be unreliable. ...

I would go for an older Single Six - you should be able to snag one for under $400. Go to RugerForum (as I did) and the older members usually will sell you a cylinder... It's fun!

BTW - They are a LIGHT gun. I shot differently with 22LR and 22WMR. Probably could have resolved this with better form, but the grips are also pretty small, IMO. Just get your groups for the 22LR and 22WMR tight, and aim accordingly. I was about 2" high at 10 yards with 22LR as compared to 22WMR.

Ya GOTTA love the 22WMR. Expensive, but WHOOOOSSSSHHHH..

                            .

                            .

I really like the single ten, but personally prefer a 6 1/2 inch barrel, strictly for looks. I contacted Ruger and they said they do not plan on making this option available. Right now, Turners has this gun for sale for $499.

I have used the WMR in my revolver over the years primarily for the 'snake shot' rounds. In my dry surrounding mountains you can't beat it.
