AR lower with .22 upper

I originally wanted to purchase a S&W M&P15-22 for fun, but since I have an extra complete AR lower already put together, I decided to look into dedicated .22 uppers.

I found this:

Would that basically be 100% compatible with my lower? What are my other options? I basically want to make a dedicated .22 AR and instead of shelling out an additional $500+, figured I could hit 2 birds with 1 stone by going this route. This would allow me to swap accessories and parts with my AR as well right?

Thoughts? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

That will work, all you will to complete your AR-22 would be mags and optics/buis

That is the base model. I would recommend you get the stainles bolt upgrade.

Thanks guys. Where can the stainless bolt be found? And does anyone have any experience with this specific kit? I want to see if the handguard can be swapped out.

I'm guessing nobody offers a pmag converted to hold .22LR's?

CMMG has lots of different configurations to choose from. I just got a 16" govt profile mid length handguard version. Definitely get the SS upgrade bolt. They also offer a forward assist upgrade, and a bolt hold open option that I wish I had purchased. Mine runs great on Federal bulk, not so well on Winchester.

Depending on what you have you may need to look into getting a narrower blow back hammer to make it a 100% compatible.

Yes, if its a CMMG 22LR upper we goto shadow65 aka Dave for his expertise. He's gtg for a dedicated 22LR upper. He'll guide you on the right path.

i highly recommend the stainless bolt (soooooo easy to clean). the forward assist is much more useful on a 22 than a 5.56 imo so if you can i'd get that.

Anything in particular that you'd like to see? I can take a picture of it and post up here. Purchased my upper from Dave here and have nothing but good things to say!

Here's my upper:
M4LEP-SS bolt/collar, functioning forward assit and anodized to match lower
Revolution handguards REV 13A
3 GenII mags
I also purchased the Bolt Hold Open Actuator.
