That ruger sure is a beauty once again damn that's a looker. Anyways I bought a browning buck mark urx today with slab barrel. Really love it. I bought it cause my gf wanted something that she can really "own" for a lack of a better word like sharpen her pistol skills. And It's an excuse for me to get a toy .


Anyways I am already thinking about modifications. An possibly a future In Competitive shooting just to explore my options. I'm a extremely competitive guy being an athlete and to make a long story short. can I use my buck mark in competitions and if not still what are some modifications? I have seen YouTube videos showing the tactical solutions barrels and etc mods. Just would love to see owners of the buck mark and see what they personally have done to there's and what they recomend and then from there decide what direction to go! Thanks I can't wait to get my gun out of jail lol.

I'm thinking of upgrading the barrel to a tactical solutions barrel. What do the differences in length actually affect when shooting, accuracy?

Secondly befor I buy the barrel I was thinking of getting a half way decent red dot. Wht do u think? Any company suggestions? Or comparisons?

Tactical Solutions barrel are accurate, but also a lot lighter. To me, having a lighter barrel means more muzzle jump and therefore slower target acquisition time. I'd stay with a heavier barrel to keep muzzle jump at a minimum. Most people get the Tactical Solutions barrels with the threaded ends for attachments such as silencers. Are you an assassin or Mall Ninja? If not, than save your money and put it on a good red dot and ammunition.

Ammunition: CCI Mini-mags and Wolf Match Target, period.
Red Dots: The best is the Matchdot Ultradot, or Burris Fastfire II. Those can't be beat.

If you can find one the Sig/Hammerli Trailside is a great shooting pistol, try Gunbroker they run about 350-500, I picked up a 6" last year in Reno at a pawn shop for 350. with good ammo it will shoot 1" groups at 25 yards easy.
There is also one called the Essex soma gun just made by Hammerli.

I have a Ruger Mark III Target and I bought it for plinking and messing about at the range. It's easy to use and easy to shoot. I haven't cleaned it yet 'cause I hear it's a pain in the behind and I'm trying to delay as long as I can. But, in all, I liked the grip angle of the Mark III better than I did the 22/45. So, it's all a matter of preference.

If you are O.K. with used... High Standard, but only those made in Ct. Very accurate, superbly made easy to clean several models in most price ranges. I have two, a joy to shoot with fantastic triggers.

Based on your needs , I chose the 22/45 with the replaceable grips. That was my dilema a couple months ago too! The standard 22/45 felt very slim while holding. The target model I chose felt "full" in my hands.

Prior to my purchase I have shot many MKII and I rugers as well as a few Browning and one Sig, not that they are a bad gun at all, just did not fit my need or hand as well. I shot better with the Ruger 45/22. That is just me though, try all the gns you can to make a decision!
