I have one for my .22lr and it shots fine for a CHEAP low ball red dot. (Since you just want a simple red dot). Its has 11 light settings, 5MOA, 1x30mm, weavers/pico style of choice. simple to use and install. It sits low, that is the only con.

as much as people hate on the colt,i love mine.have shot both and they bothe feel good.i went with my just due to the feel/weight of the rifle.it was very accurate outta the box and very reasonably priced,$459 on sale at big 5.the sw1522 shot well also but felt very light and toy like to me due to the composites,but on the flip side if you want a lighter gun sw is the way to go.i bought mine on a impulse buy so it was sight unseen,but i am very pleased with her.1000 rnds and no hiccups.either one and you in the money imo
oh and all my accesorys are mil spec

Yep, just purchased my stripped lower (Stag Arms) today. Have the 10 day wait, have to find a good lower parts kit, a butt stock and sights/red dot.

Thanks for the info, the other day I probably looked at about 15+ red dot sights. I found one that uses a AA battery but now forget which one it was. I'll have to revisit that one day but for now folding sights will do the trick. Red dot is just an add on, not needed right away.

Thanks, I posted this thread while i was at a gun show so I almost purchased the gun with not knowing much about it. I decided to wait and do a little more research and am happy with my decision to build. I wanted to know a little more about it so building it will help me know all the parts/functions.

Get the S&W or Sig. I have the 15/22, my friend has a 522 and his brother has a Colt. I like that a 15/22 uses real ar-15 parts. All 3 guns shoot fine and with about equal accuracy, but the Colt like a toy to me.
To answer your question, it shoots just fine.

what? where do you come with this conclusion?

Colt is probably the closest copy of the real ar15, its weight, parts, and material it uses. only thing different from real ar15 is the safety switch. other than that colt is as real as it gets. all parts are mil-spec and interchangeable with ar15 parts.

SW is very good gun as well. however it is made out of polymer material. so its weight and realism isn't as good as colt. That doesn't mean it doesn't shoot well. it is probably the most accurate ar15 copy there is.

Sig isn't a ar15, but the material and quality is top notch. and as well as accuracy.

I've shot all three guns, but in the end, I wanted something that is closest to the real ar15 and COLT was it. As far as accuracy, you won't tell the difference between all these guns.

and i really don't understand all the hate on Colt. 2000 rds on mine with any problem at all. and cleaning is a breeze that even my girlfiend did it right the first time without me tell her anything. SW is little cheaper around $100 less. but i bought my colt ops version for 500 after tax and dros.
