    Which .22LR Bolt-Action Repeating Rifle?

I am looking into getting a .22 bolt-action repeating for a build that I can use for training on the cheap. Training on a .308 isn't budget friendly. Being this is my first bolt-action, I don't want to break the bank. After a little bit of reading, I am considering:

    1) Savage Arms Mark II F
    2) Marlin 925

I am also open to any suggestions for other .22 bolt-action repeating rifles that I can find $250 and under.

    Thanks in advance!

Savage Mark II FV would be my choice.

I've had mine for less than a month and I love it. Groups at 50yds are quarter size with cheap Wal Mart ammo. At 35 yds I get dime sized groups with the Remington Gold Box ammunition.

    Overall, I love the Savage.

Savage is good, Marlin is good, can't go wrong with either. Suggest you only consider those with wood stocks for best accuracy.

There are tons of used .22 bolts out there for great prices. I bought a Springfield 56A by Stevens a few years ago for $75. Figuring it was late 50's/early 60's. Turns out it's from the 1930's. Very accurate for a sporter.

But the new Marlins and Savages are great guns for the money. However, on just about any bolt .22, I would recommend upgrading the rudimentary sights to something like a Lyman Globe on the front and a Williams peep on the rear.

Don't a lot of people also love them rimfire CZs? I don't have a CZ, just a Winchester Wildcat rimfire, when I bought it I thought it was made in the USA,- wrong....! The thing is Russian, a TOZ by-product but still very nice to shoot, looks kinda like a Mosin Nagant near the magazine area....

I have a nice, clear, holds zero Leapers 4x40 scope on it.
