I really enjoy my Marlin XT-22R! It is basically an updated 925. I got it cheaper than a 925 too!

IDK the used market for the Ruger 77/22 but mine has over 2000 rnds thru it, it drives nails, and the magazines are easy to carry. I know a new one is more but I don't see used one's too much....Comment

Boy howdy, that's a nice scope! What is it?I have a CZ and no your not going to get it for 250 but this rifle with a 40 dollar trigger job shots 1 inch groups at 100

I've got a Simmons .22 Mag 3-9x32 on mine. I can see great as far out as I'll probably ever be shooting the rifle, and after sighting it in, I can hit pretty much anything I want.

I got a Marlin form big 5 for 175 a few months ago...i think its the 925...it was easy to choose to get it because its the only .22 bolt I found locally in stock
its my first bolt action , heavier than my 10/22 , and surely more accurate than I can shoot it...maybe I'm nuts but it seems like the bullets impact harder at distance than from my 10/22youtube channel and subscribe! :-)Comment

@ socalocalypse: I was looking around Big 5 and it seems like that the 925 is the only .22 bolt action repeater they carry.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their input. It has been a great help.
I overlooked the XT-22R as a consideration. Seems like it is the Marlin 925 updated with their own version of an Accu-Trigger from the Savage. Got a few inquiries out to LGSs for pricing right now on the Marlin XT-22 and the Savage MKII.
Hopefully I will put a rifle in jail soon.

What's the barrel length?
You may not be imagining it. There is a VERY small loss of velocity from the semi-auto action, but you'd never notice that alone. However, if you are shooting a 10/22 short barrel version vs. a 22"+ barrel bolt action, the muzzle velocity will be significantly higher on the longer barrel. 4 inches is probably enough for most people to tell the difference on steel targetsI got a Marlin form big 5 for 175 a few months ago...i think its the 925...it was easy to choose to get it because its the only .22 bolt I found locally in stock

There's not a dime's worth of difference in REAL terminal ballistics. Get over it.

I agree, any old school bolt action .22 would be a tack driver. I have owned a Remington 511 for years and I'm very pleased with it.
As for the Poll, I voted for the Marlin because a buddy of mine has one and it seems like a well made rifle. As for the savage, I have no experience or knowledge.sigpic

my current .22 rimfire BA stable consists of two CZ 452's, a rem 510, Winchester 69A.
IMO, there are many good .22 BA rifles on the market.
as inexpensively a they can be had, I'd suggest purchasing new, whatever you decide on. many if not most, may now be transformed into tack driving plinker/target/hunting rifles with the after market accessories now available.NRA life member, US Army Veteran

I have a 1948 Winchester model 52 B mint condition. It was stored in my safe since 1983 when I purchased a collection of guns. I took it out a year ago and fired it for the first time. Previous to that it had never been fired. It shoots sub moa at 50 yards with pretty much any lr ammo. It is topped with a redfield 4X scope the same age.Comment
