    Marlin 60 Barrel ISSUE **LEMON**

So after 2 range trips(1 indoor, 1 outdoor), 200 rounds, and an hour with 2 Rifle Range Officers I've come to realize that the barrel on my brand new Marlin 60 is cocked to the right, or in other words the barrel is out of alignment.

I spoke with their customer service and got a shipping label sent to me so I guess I'm going to just end up shipping the gun back for repairs but I think this is complete BS. The gun was literally ordered from the factory as there weren't any in stock when I decided to purchase.

I went with the Marlin 60 over a 10/22 because I'd heard they were better shooters straight out of the box and I didn't want to spend too much on modifications at the moment(clearly that didn't work out for me). Has anybody had similar experiences with Marlin rimfires?

This really gets my blood boiling because I went out of the way to buy new and the best they could give me was a LEMON. And on top of that now I won't have a .22 rifle for our annual family trip to the mountains where all my nieces and nephews always look forward to sharpshooting empty cans and honing their rifle skills.

Any advice on what to do besides send the gun back and be very ticked off?

Send the gun back and don't be ticked off?
    I love my model 60.
Will trade liquor/wine/beer for parts and accesories and ammo! PM me. Dont drink n shoot. Offer void where prohibited. Must be 21 or older, etc. etc.

Borrow a 22 for your trip and be happy when the gun comes back from marlin all gtg. Then buy some new sights (firesights or tech sights) and a DIP trigger. Maybe even a Boyd's stock.

Since the takeover of Marlin by Cerebus thay have had quality issues. Same conglomerate that sank Chrysler and Remington. Marlin has closed down production at the 'new' location to correct their quality problems. Promising to be back and good as ever by the end on this year.

Look around for a good used rifle. Try Gunbroker or Auction Arms. Best of luck to you.
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

Some idiots are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything

Im better with my 795 than my 10/22. That's a bummer, but stuff like that happens to everyone.

Buy a 10/22 or a marlin bolt action for your trip, you need one anyway :-D

What a complete bummer. I paid more for an older Model 60 (17 rounder w/ longer barrel) than a new one cost. Glad I did now.. They can be tack drivers for a very low cost. I am not a fan of the 10/22 - just not as light or easy to load as my Marlin. (Both are (or were) reliable as tanks tho..).

Glad everyone else got good ones haha.

I guess I just took a lemon for the team...

The only reason I'm upset about the issue is the minimum turn around time of 3 weeks(most likely longer), I already waited my 10 damn days!!!!

Sorry to hear of the problems you encountered.
Ask Marlin for an upgrade and send you the Marlin 60ss. They will probably do it for no extra cost.

I've never heard of a bad Model 60, but there's always a first. It'll be better than new when it gets back to you. Ask for a test firing and the target.

Wow I'm jealous, that's the model I wanted but it was out of stock at the time I placed my order! I will definitely ask them if that's a possibility on Monday and let you guys know what comes from it. Thanks for the suggestion!

They're sending me a refund in the mail. The refund was promised and put into action by Marlin about 6 weeks ago.

I spoke with a representative this morning and they said the check is "on the way" and it could be anywhere between a few days and another 2 months, no guarantees and no way of finding out... great customer service

Jeeze. I'd love to be a fly on the wall if you bought a brand new car and it had to have anything fixed under warrantee ...

I got an old one with long barrel, 17 round tube and LRBHO at auction for $50.00

They only made that version for a couple years.

                            Good deals are out there.

I don't know what to say to the OP, what was the symptom of the problem?
