Magazine recommendations for 10/22?

Hello everyone

I just started doing some tacticlol stuff to my 10/22 Carbine.

I have a Tapco Intrafuse Generation 1 stock, and I purchased a few of the 10 round Promag Extended Body magazines.

The Promag magazines are horrible. Nothing but feed errors all the time. I have two OEM Ruger 10 round box mags, and they work great.

Does anyone have any recommendations for more...visually pleasing 10-round magazines?

I have seen some from Butler Creek that look similar, however they are transparent and make the thing look like a toy.

Does anyone make black or smoked 10-round magazines that look more tacticlol?

I just coupled my Ruger 10 rounders with JB weld and a double mag coupler.

Works great and spare set is easy to carry in a small cell phone pouch. You can still disassemble the rotary mag for maintenance.

I have had good success with my factory box mags, so I'm stickin' with those. I'm going to buy a couple BX-25's soon for some extra capacity.

Factory mags work best, but I've had good luck with Butler Creek, both the"hot lips" and steel lips variety.

Love the Trimag, plus it lets you use 3 of the factory mags, which are the best 10/22 mags ever made.

Duracoat is your friend and you could always paint the clear. Use flat black, satin black, or whatever they have that you might want.

+1 and i got one of the trimags...they work great!

i had feeding/jamming issues with "Other" magazines; but once i went back to the factory mags...NO problems...

I see why the ruger 10rd mag is such a success with shooters of the 10/22. Very clean lines and its flushed design allows an unimpeded support hand placement on the forend whether its a stock carbine or a rebodied tactical. I see how the longer bx25 and bc 25rd-ers "get in the way" for some due to its curved shape toward the forend.

My thought is since the 10/22 is by design a smaller rifle when compared to most larger calibers, thus provides limited space when operating it, why not just make a 30rd magazine that extends straight down instead of curving toward the muzzle? A straight 25~30rd mag would probably not extend lower than most tactical pistol-gripped 10/22 modified rifles.

And thinking out of the box here, if you need a curve and if it doesn't really matter which way it curves, then why not curve it toward the buttstock. It'd look as strange as the trimag or quad coupler...but...you have 25~30rds protected in ONE mag instead of the other 20~30 "being exposed" so to speak.

Like Ron-solo said, factory mags are the best. If you want the best tacticool looming mags, find some TI-25 rebuild kits and convert them to ten rounders.

The banana shape comes from the curved arc the rimmed .22 rimfire cartridge makes when you stack them on top of each other.
The inner arc of the curve has to be to the front.

Ramline makes a nice 50 round double stack mag that is not too curved, but that's only for people in the free states.

I do believe I know how to make a straight 20-30 rounder.
I get lots of requests for this.
However, making one in CA is a no-no, so I will wait until the magazine laws change or I move out of state.

+1 on the Trimag with factory 10-rnd mags. For high-cap, I've had nothing but problems with Ramline brand, while Eagle brand worked well but usually broke quickly. My Butler Creek "Hot Lips" mags performed better for me that their "Steel Lips" version with the "Hot Lips" ones being about 90% were good ones and about 10% so-so while the "Steel Lips" version has been about 50% good ones and 50% so-so to bad.
