Lightest .22 AR

I am wondering what the lightest .22 AR is on this board?

I want to build on in the future, and was thinking what would be best. I think the TacSol Aluminum jacketed barrel upper, and a CavArms lower would be crazy light. like maybe 4.5lbs.

But then maybe a TacSol Aluminum barrel upper, regular m4 type lower, and a small red dot would come in under 5.5lbs.

Wonder which would balance better.

the little fiancee has a cmmg .22 upper w/ Primary Arms micro on a JD lower.. I haven't weighed it but it is incredibly light (and pink)

plum crazy lower is real light. I have one and its in great shape after 3k rounds through it. There was a guy on here a few months ago asking the same question, He was going to go with a Plum crazy lower and I think it was also a tacsol upper also, it was going to be crazy light.

I hope he posts on how the build turned out. A) I want one for hunting, B) I want one to teach newbies how to shoot.

Bushmaster Carbon 22 is probably about as light as you can get.

lol, ya i forgot but wasn't that upper that you were lookin at like 750? That would put a big hole in the wallet.

I believe that with a Aero lower, MOE Stock, and CMMG Upper with Troy TRX 7"... That I can get it down to ~5-5.5lb... I also think if I have a gunsmith reprofile the barrel I can get it down by another 0.5-1lb...

Of course I'll be removing the gas block, muzzle device, buffer & spring, etc...

Depending on what you are after, CMMG has a link to Clint Beyer barrels for the uppers. Clint makes some scary accurate barrels that use the aluminum tubes with steel liners. Very light weight.
Put that on a Plum Crazy lower and I would bet it would be close to 4.5 lbs.

The Kel-Tec SU-22 is very light (4 lb. empty according to Kel-Tec). My daughters prefer it to my dedicated .22 LR or 10-22 due to its weight. I built them a lightweight carbine that they promptly told me was "too heavy" and went back to the SU-22. Sometimes there's no making them happy.

it ain't a real "AR" but my 10/22 in choate pistol grip stock, fully loaded wearing a tasco pro point red dot, weighs in a 4.0 lbs while my Spikes Tactical ST-22 M4 weighs in at 6.0 lbs with tac flashlite and fully loaded.

My AR22 weighs in at 4.9 lbs with Eotech 511 and without magazine. Changing to carbon upper/lower and carbon free float tube would drop another pound according to the Internets.


So lightest AR 22 you can make without sights, optics, or mag would be ~ 3.4 lbs.

It would consist of:
Ace Carbine Tube no gusset, no buttpad 4-40 mod
TacSol Lightweight barrel
Carbon Upper/Lower
Carbon fiber carbine length handguards


If you know anything lighter. Chime in.
