Apple and Orange I guess for me. A single action revolver vs as semi automatic? I'd opt for the $100 more for me, and I like revolvers but the only advantage it has is the 22mag cylinder. I'd go with the Ruger 22/45. Just me.

i have the 22/45...it's a great semi-auto pistol; IMO, you won't go wrong in selecting this pistol.

i recently saw one at Spragues in Yuma, AZ, that was absolutely beyond belief...silencer, extended mag, picatinny rail...

if i were to purchase a .22 revolver, it would be one of the high quality, DA, s&w's, colts, ruger Taurus (if they make them in .22) etc...or i might look for a good used Dan Wesson...JMO

A couple weeks ago I bought a sig mosquito.
and did not like the look of the ruger mark I II III
and the plastic frame of the 22/45 but now they are
growing on me I think I might be buying one in the next
couple weeks If anyone is selling one let me know(ruger)

So I'm a big fan of single action revolvers and I have to tell you:

you have to REALLY LIKE single action revolvers to tolerate owning a rimfire model. Unless your range will let you set up a lawn chair or other backed recliner to sit in while you plink away. Then it's OK to buy a single action rimfire even if you are just so-so into them.

otherwise IMO it'll never get enough use.

I bought a Rough Rider this month and it is fun. I got it to go with my Henry Frontier lever action .22. I end up sending less rounds down range when I shoot my RR vs my Buckmark. So it can stretch my brick of .22s to last longer.

                Love of 22s

I have a few to shoot here.Favorites-S&W 617,647,648,2213,22A.Next Ruger Mark1,2,3.Sold the 22/45 to a friend,he loves it.Sold the Ruger single sixs in 22 and 17hmr when I got the Smiths.Friends with Walthers love them.I like them, just do not own one.Sig Mosquito/owned 2,both had the same problems.Lightning may strike twice in the same spot.Functioned only with stinger or super high velocity ammo. Both were purchased new. They also spit some hot crap back on me or my wife from time to time.Neither of us are tolerant of things like that.I have spoke with a few people that own them and if they have shot them experianced like things. The big Sigs I own,I count my life on.

I've got my eye on that 22/45 myself. nutnfancy did a great review of it on youtube fwiw. I think he did one on a .22 single action as well? I just remember thinking it would be neat to have one.

why did the single action guy think you needed a chair if you're ever going to use a .22? implying it's so slow?

fwiw I've got one NAA .22 short and waiting to dross a .22 lr NAA. I don't shoot the short so much becuase it's so hard to get ammo for, but after I get some at the gun show I will.

I can't speak for the LR version cuz I don't have it in my hand yet, but I like the challenge of getting accuracy out of them and I like cocking the hammer. Regardless their size makes them useful to me.

I thought a .22 single action full size revolver looked like fun, personally, i'd like to have one.

If I had to choose, I'd get that mark 3 though.

I have the Ruger SS, 22/45 and the Heritage. I shoot the revolvers with about the same accuracy. The Ruger just feels more quality made. Both revolvers have the .22 mag cylinder. I've scoped the 22/45 and use it for sillouettes out to 50 yards. I don't think you could go wrong with any of these. Its a matter of personal choice.

I bought the Heritage RR a couple of weeks ago and just fired it last Sunday. I shot .22LR, I have not tried WMR in it yet.
Mine is a 6.5" barrel with fiber optic sights. I paid $200 plus tax and fees at Turners.
I am very happy with it. I think I got my $ worth. I think of it as a fun plinker, nothing more. I will not hunt with it or use it for HD.
FTR, I think the Ruger single Six I sold over 20 years ago was a better gun. I just did not want to pay the Ruger price.
The Heritage has a lot of fans. They were all looking for a reasonably priced plinker or snake gun. If they wanted a target pistol, they would have bought something more expensive.

I bought a RR for my son to shoot. Turned out to be a good gun for the price. It's by no means a Ruger, but you could buy 3 RR's for the price.

The Heritage Rough Rider and Ruger 22/45 are both great pistols. It truly depends on what you like. The Rough Rider usually comes with the 22mag cylinder as well as a .22lr cylinder which is a plus. I honestly have never used the .22mag cylinder in mine as it is expensive and simply have not bought any .22mag. Like I said before both are great so it is hard to say.

Is the $220 price tag for the RR the average price around the Bay or is it discounted already?
