    Need 10/22 advice

I know this is a pretty common question but I have to throw it out there anyways.

I have decided to purchase a high end 10/22 setup and was considering the 10/22 "Target" model which is pretty much the best you can get straight from the factory. BUT, I was also considering just getting a more standard 10/22 and staring from the ground up and putting mostly Volquartsen parts or a company of similar stature.

Does anyone know from experience if the stock 10/22 Target from Ruger is really comparable to a custom 10/22 build in terms of trigger action, accuracy, and quality?

It's not.... You're better off starting with a base model. The extras that come on the target model are better than the bone stock rifle, but they don't compare to most aftermarket accessories.

For exmple, the rifle in my avatar is built to resemble a factory target model but shoots much better.

      Under $800 Dream 10/22

Would anybody who loves 10/22's be interested in helping me decide on all the parts for a high quality and HIGH ACCURACY build?

I'd like to keep it around $600 if possible but I am willing to spend a maximum of $800. I want to get a quality rifle that will last a long time so I'm always up for putting down some extra cash where it counts.

Let me know if anyone is interested, I just really don't know anything about 10/22 builds besides the basic stock choices and major barrel/trigger companies. Any help is appreciated. Help me build your dream gun (if your close enough we can meet up and I'll let you shoot it!)

I would mostly end up using this gun at Oak Tree Gun Club for the time being if you're ever out there.

I've been itching for a nice .22 and I'm just finally ready to do it

Definitely go with a bone stock model and then build it up. You'll be better off in the long run. Well I live in San Jose. Never heard of Oak Tree GC, so I'm guessing its not very close to me. If it is, then I wouldn't mind meeting up and doing a little shooting. Just remember when you get someone to help you out. Consider their input, but don't take there word as gold. Just use their input to guide you. I don't say this to discredit anybody in any way. I only say it because you still need to know what you want/expect out of each component, and how much you're willing to pay for it. If you ask 100 different people you will get 99 different answers. Good luck with your build!

Have you had good experiences with them in terms of accuracy and reliability out of the box?

My $190 1022 works fine, and a gun does not need to be expensive to be enjoyed. Just saying
